2 Seed practically clinched

go look..

11-5 got the one seed in 2002. and it got us the 2 seed in 2001, and in 1996.
2008, 11-5 got the pats bupkus. Just saying, small sample size what 11-5 will earn...

The Pats are in a comfortable position, and looks considerably better than any other AFC team (or NFC team, for that matter). This looks like a Pats year, and Belichick could even rest some guys down the road. I just don't see Oakland win out, and you guys could. The playoffs is a different beast of course, but the regular season should easily be yours from here.

in 2008 if you looked at the standings afert 8 games they would have looked alot different than they do this year.

Not sure I ever remember such a lack of balance among the AFC divisions... it comes down to Patriots vs. Raiders, Chiefs and Broncos..

AFC East 18 wins - 15 losses
AFC West 23 - 12
AFC South 15 -19
AFC North. 11-21

I'm so thrilled we've clinched the 3rd seed.

11-5 good enough to get the 2nd seed? I wouldn't count on that.

IDK, it is certainly possible. Actually quite likely.

The winner of the AFC North is going to be 12-4 at best since everyone has at least four losses, but let's face it, no one from that division is going to run the tables the rest of the way and the Pats have the tiebreaker with the Steelers and Bengals and likely will have it with Baltimore after they play.

The Texans only have three losses, but they are also very likely to lose two more games and the Pats have the tie breaker. Everyone else in that division has 5 or more losses.

Two or even three teams from the AFC West with an 12-4 or better record, but only one can win the division and get the one or two seed.

So realistically the only division winner outside of New England the team coming out of the West likely to have a 12-4 record or better are the Texans. Are you really going to bet they only lose one more game the rest of the year?

Can someone please detonate this thread?

Anybody worried about Oakland?

So, emphasis going forward should be:

Win games. Don't take anything for granted.

Stay healthy. On some plays, go down. And live to fight another play.

Improve. Nobody's given anything, and that ball sometimes bounces in a crazy way.

No distractions. It's the price we all pay to get through the next three months.
Peak heading into the playoffs rather than limping in

One Seed or freaking bust remember what happened last year....when we pissed it away with those questionable Game plans against NY and Miami. Gift wrapped AFC Home-field and SB to Manning and company.

Worried is entirely too strong a word. They are playing well right now and did us a solid knocking off the donks but they are a young team coached by Jack Del Rio. Even if the worst happens and the pats end up 12-4 with losses to the broncos, baltimore, and jets so Oakland wins in tie breakers with conference record does going to Oakland, with a relatively healthy for that time of year team, for the AFCCG scare you? Personally I would say not one bit due to the MASSIVE advantage the pats have at coaching and QB. The only easier game I could see is the Colts so LGB could go off for 250 yards again. If the Raiders keep adding to their core and are smart with their current young talent I could see them being a pain in the ass down the road but this year? Too inexperienced with total **** coaching to make that kind of noise

I thought it was 1 Feb 2015 .

That's a neutral site game, if we're speaking on technical terms, that's not a road win

Although, it's a good point. Stands were filled with NFC (Hawks) fans that day, and we had road unis on too

although played at a neutral site, technically speaking it was a road win for the patriots. NFC teams are designated as the home team for odd-numbered super bowls, AFC teams are the home team for even-numbered super bowls.

Super Bowl: Home team designation - Wikipedia

The designated "home team" alternates between the NFC team in odd-numbered games and the AFC team in even-numbered games.[52][53] This alternation was initiated with the first Super Bowl, when the Green Bay Packers were the designated home team. Regardless of being the home or away team of record, each team has their team wordmark painted in one of the end zones. Designated away teams have won 29 of 50 Super Bowls to date (58 percent).
