Hate to say it, but that one was self-inflicted. Why they went away from Flutie is something I'll never understand, and I found the outcome fitting. I'd like to think you'd be more angry about that than anything having to do with the league. The league didn't make them start Rob Johnson, and that decision cost you guys a huge opportunity, especially given how well that team had been playing down the stretch.
Johnson's stats in that one were 2001 AFCCG Bledsoe like. Under .500 comp % and only 130 yards passing or something like that.

I love how opposing fans today are wagging their fingers at the Patriots because (whoever) was injured in a playoff game... when they would be thrilled with a break like that to win in the playoffs 10 times out of 10. You know it's true.

I remember it well.

Pre Bills Mafia, lots of Bills fans absolutely hated Flutie and any Bills fan who liked him. Even when Flutie won.

The Music City Miracle was absolutely a backwards pass. It was on a kickoff return, not a play from scrimmage (that wasn’t McNair) but it was backwards.
My bad yes it was Frank Wycheck who threw it. 89 wasn't McNair's number anyway.

McNair releasing the pass. Don't look at him look at where the ball is almost right out to the 26 yard line.

Just before Dyson catches it it's already closer to the 25 than when McNair released it.

Here's the catch. Clearly closer to the line now. The ball is the only thing that matters not where anyone is standing.

Unfortunately that's 100% a legit lateral. It did look forward in realtime at a different camera angle but looking at these pics it's a different story.
That was Frank Wycheck that made the pass but otherwise you’re spot on. It looked like a forward pass in the broadcast but once they showed the sideline angle it was clear that it was a lateral. It is always more convenient for fans to blame their team’s shortcomings on the referees instead of the opponents for making the plays they needed to win, and we’ve been guilty of it ourselves as Pats fans too. But for Bills fans it is a way of life. Counting my blessings that I wasn’t raised to be a Buffalo fan.

I remember listening to their local station WGR way back then and they were as anti-Flutie as it gets. That probably created all that sentiment. The worst of the lot was Chuck ****erson who was a former Bills coach I think.

What is the joy in making a super bowl you will be blown out in?
You guys would know all about that. Is it gonna be like a Bills vs Redskins type blowout or one of the Bills vs Dallas blowouts?

IIRC, I was on the KFFL boards.

Very few fans liked Flutie.

I was furious with that at the time. Stupified as well.

I completely get it. You guys had a great chance to win it that year, and I couldn't believe they made that decision. It was definitely baffling.

I find it very hard to despise the Bills or to amuse myself by mocking them, as we do the Jets. It's a long-suffering franchise and fan base which has had some great players and coaches over the years. Marv Levy and Jim Kelly come to mind. Josh Allen is a terrific player and a good egg. I have lived in Upstate New York. They are great people, far more worthy than the jabbering troglodytes in the Big Apple and Noo Joizy. I wish they had snatched a Lombardi during our down years, frankly. I look forward to their becoming a worthy adversary again.
I agree.

As an AFC guy I was pulling for the Bills in all four of their SBs.

Back when I was an AOLe the Pats message board became unreadable because of trolls posing as fans. Too many good posters couldn't recognize that they were being played.

That’s how I know history is repeating itself.

There has only been 2 teams in the history of the NFL to have an easier road to the Super Bowl than the Pats have had (and that doesn’t count the injuries which put Pats at likely the easiest road ever).
I'd like to see the source for this statement - because I know it's just made up hater ********.

The Patriots are the first team in history to beat 3 top-5 defenses in the playoffs. Their opponents' combined records were 37-14 (.725). Hell, the Seahawks had an easier road to the Super Bowl. They only had to win 2 games and their opponents' combined record was 24-10 (.706).

I taught high school up by the Canadian border for a number of years, used to listen to WGR all the time. It was a great old-school radio station back then, had a great morning show, don't remember the guys' names. Outside of the larger cities, living in upstate NY is like stepping back into the 50's: great people, great kids, a great place to raise them, and a great place to teach.

I remember in the run up to the 21 draft, there was talk of the PAts wanting to wait to draft Mills, as he went in the 3rd round due to limited college experience (11 starts IIRC). Once Mac Jones was drafted that became a nonstarter.

Mills is a solid low end QB. He is never going to be a true starter, but he has learned to just protect the ball and that makes him a valuable backup. He had 6 TD and 1 INT this year.

Nothing short of amazing that a bunch of people that should know better keep feeding the troll. The Pats are headed to the Super Bowl and the Superior Sons of New England are handing out troll cookies by directly engaging with a lying Billdos fan whose sole objective is to rain on the Pats parade and ruin what should be a glorious 2 weeks. The ***** has gotten fat off the cookies you folks are feeding her. For the life of me...

Imagine being such a loser you spend all this time trolling a fan base of a team that has 6 rings and is going to the bowl for the 12th time. And a terrible troll at that. Fat Cow, do me a favor, go back to your hole and come out when you hire a new coach. In the meantime, we have a Superbowl to look forward to you jackass. As Al Davis said, Just win baby. Was not pretty at all, but who cares, the name of the game is to win, Pats win and bills lose, order has been restored.
That brings up a question. Who's going to be the Bills' HC? They must have a deal in place with someone.
