SAS realized yelling on Radio & TV gets you noticed, so he started doing that 18 years ago. I’m not a fan of that style. I also think his only “expertise” in sports is basketball, I think most of us are way more knowledgeable about football than him.

He also has some Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) in him. He gets insanely angry if people disagree with him, and acts like HE’s the greatest, and is never wrong. Even his so called apology to Maye is ridiculous.

I find SAS repulsive. Regardless of this ‘controversy’. He yells, doesn’t seem to know sports as much as many of his contemporaries, has an obnoxious personality. I just don’t get why he is so popular.

I don’t know why anyone - including Maye, fans, media, teammates - would care what SAS thinks about Maye. There are many people who likely have negative feelings about me. Who cares ? I might be around for another 25-30 years if lucky. I can’t possibly care what people who are unimportant to me think. Wasted energy.

Drake Maye doesn’t need to know what show Cam Newton is on atm. As a child, I was a huge Expos fan. Tim Raines was amazing. Loved that guy. I have NO clue what he’s up to. Does he work, does he live, where does he live ? Who cares. A childhood hero doesn’t need to be followed once you become an adult. Really not hard for me to no longer know what he’s up to. SAS overrates himself, his colleagues, his station, his ratings. Being the #1 show on cable TV during the day is the equivalent of being the best ringette player on a U12 house team in New Brunswick.

That show is a modern day form of the Blaxploitation films of the 70s. Cam newton might as well be Huggie Bear from Starsky and hutch.

SAS acted like Maye said he didn't know what first take was or had never seen it. If that was what Maye said, it's fair to suggest he's a liar because there's realistically no way that anyone in the sports world doesn't know what First Take is. Like the show or not, it's a big part of sports culture as evidenced by even the people in here hating on the show knowing full well that it exists and what type of content it produces. Any sports fan or sports affiliated person knows what First Take is. Let's be real here. But that is NOT what Maye said. He said he didn't know Cam was on that show. Cam is a relatively new, PART TIME addition to the show. It's plausible that someone wouldn't know he's on there if they don't actually follow the show and are just generally aware at what it is.

If you're asking my honest opinion, I find it more likely than not that Maye was "lying" in saying that and was just dismissing it with a snarky little comment. And I don't think SAS really meant a lot by his comment either, just a part of the over the top showmanship that is his style to call that out. Basically, much ado about nothing.

I saw Tim Raines play a couple of games in 1979 at Tim McCarver stadium for the Memphis Chicks, the Expos' AA affiliate at that time, while I was stationed at NAS Memphis TN after boot camp for avionics training... 650 PAs, 25 2Bs, 10 3Bs, 59! SBs, 90 BBs, only 51 SOs, and a line of .290/.390/.399/.789... Not too shabby...
