I can’t believe how much of this thread was dedicated to people arguing over clinching, math, opinions and not actually the game itself!

The posts on clinching should have ended after about page 2

I think the Carroll era in Las Vegas is a warning sign for over-the-hill coaches. Look who has had success this year: Vrabel in NE and Ben Johnson with the Bears. The Giants need to find their hot coach who has had a lot of experience and has a plan to reshape the whole organization.

I agree. The NFL is always trendy, and the success of Vrabel and Johnson will likely influence the offseason hires toward " younger" head coaches. Vrabel is 50, that not young, but he isn't old either.

I was never a Carter fan, didn't think a part-time WR/part-time CB merited that high a pick. Pats got the best fit of talent/need possible at #4 (though I did have Tyler Warren and Jalon Walker graded higher than Campbell).

Campbell's mental makeup is a perfect fit for Mike Vrabel.

I think you meant Hunter, Carter is an edge, and I know you know that. . I love how Campbell has proven the haters wrong. The kid is going to be a franchise LT for years and years to come, and I don't believe they will have any trouble keeping him here when his contract comes up.

It really is amazing that Vrabel was out of a HC position for a year. A well-respected coach who had taken the Titans to an AFC Championship game. I don't know enough about Johnson's background to know how appealing he was, but turning Goff into a functional, winning QB after the Rams moved him was quite an accomplishment.

I don't know enough about coaches around the league to say who would be the next versions of them.

Burrow is one frustrating QB. He's among the best QB's in the game....when he plays. Nobody should be shocked if he slices up Buffalo's trash D this weekend. He may do NE a solid this weekend which make it almost impossible for Buffalo to win the division with a loss.
I've been noodling around that he's the current Kurt Cousins. I know, the skeleton of Cousins is still playing for Atl. But through out Cousins career I heard how good he was but never saw him really accomplish anything. Same with Burrows. Smarter FB people than me comment he's this great quarterback but doesn't translate much to post season.

No, I just phrased it poorly. I didn't particularly want Carter OR Hunter. Thought both were way over-hyped by media.

Cousins never made it to a SuperBowl. Cousins is the just better than mediocre quarterback who will get you to the playoffs but not accomplish anything. He's like a QB version of Mike Tomlin.

(Yes, I know Tomlin got to and won a Super Bowl, but I mean more recent Tomlin.)

Pats thoughts in general. Not related to the Giants as much as just the team at this point

#1 The Pats have checked every box that could have been asked of them this year, except one. And that final thing they need to prove is can they come off a long break ready to go? They had the mini bye vs the Bengals and had their worst game since the Steelers lost. Can this young team come in after a week off hit on all cylinders? They will get to prove that next week vs the Bills. In fact is is the best dry run they could ask for. Come in off the bye vs one of the best AFC teams? If they come out flat again.... maybe they are better off not having the bye after all.

#2 Henderson has 6.2 YPR. Now there are RBs that are pretty good that come in around that mark. But for a guy like Henderson who is so quick, it should be better. I am not saying the blame is on him, though i'm sure some is. In football with things like this there is always plenty of blame or credit to go around. But most of it is play design and personnel. One of the big reasons I could get behind the Henderson pick was not just cause of his running but because he was said to be a true threat in the passing game, not just catching the ball, but breaking a few and getting healthy YPR. It be a shame to not have this play a little better for the playoffs.

#3 I don't want to jinx anything, but i like how clean the Pats have played recently. Not much in the way of fumbles and low penalties. Seeing them play recently you forget how sloppy they were in both respects early on.

#4 I think it would be good for the Patriots if the Bills won this week. I know he math says a lost serves them better as it puts them as practically a lock to take the division, but i don't think it be good for the team. I think the Bills should come in here with the hope they can still turn the division around. And a win for them would make that possible. If you want the Pats to win a playoff game you have to kind of want them to face a high stakes hat and T game like this.
