Patriots Injury News Polk out for the season

@Ring 6 like I said Polk is just the kind of guy to accept that. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Not to jump in to your argument with Ring6, but this is a little different than what you were talking about. The original thread showed how he has a shoulder injury worse than originally thought, and he’ll require surgery. He really does need the full season to recover from it - this won’t be a case where he’s healthy in October but on IR.

not surprising. it's merely a way to protect the pride of Wolf & Co. Vrabel would certainly just cut him, cause he's not worth anything, but it looks better to say their 2nd round pick lasted 2 years rather than 1 and gone. we'll never see him again here though

Now the question is whether the Pats waive Polk with an injury settlement, or keep him around for another chance in 2026.

2.64m cap hit next year... cheap enough to keep around as an insurance policy

tbh I don't care... maybe it might be better for the sanity of the new england fan base just to dump this guy now and be done with it...

Interesting perspective: If Maye busts (I really hope not) this will go down as the worst draft in the history of the Patriots and quite possibly the NFL, especially when you consider how high in the rounds picks were. Other than Maye, Dial might be the only player left next year.

Whatever makes the most sense from a cap standpoint, because he can’t play. He’s not an NFL caliber athlete, he just isn’t.

We are completely cursed when it comes to drafting WRs except for UDFA/late rounders (Givens, Edelman, and Efton) or FA/trades (Moss, Amendola, etc..). The only good WR we have drafted in rounds 1-3 the last 30 years was Branch, right? Malcolm Mitchell could have been good too if not for injury.

Williams better watch out!!!
Mitchell was 100% a great pick. Only one year, but played a big role in winning the greatest football game ever played. I'd use a 4th rounder on that every year.

But ya, the old regime was basically blindfolded, playing "pin the WR on the Brady."

Hoping Vrabel's influence will change that.

That trade down form Ladd looks worse everyday.
What can we do to purge the team of missing on receivers in the draft.
Can someone go tell Giselle we are sorry for whatever we did so she can remove this curse.
Javon Wheelchair Baker is still breathing: we still have a Powerballs chance.

It's ancient history to many, but the 1966 Patriots draft says hello.
Do Karl Singer, Jim Boudreaux, Harold Lucas, John Mangum and Dan Irby ring a bell?
Of course not, which is the point.

The Pats 1990 draft was pathetic as well, moreso considering they had two top-ten picks.

If you want to expand to the entire NFL, there are plenty of drafts from the Cleveland Browns v2.0 or the creamsicle-era Tampa Bay Bucs (e.g., drafting Bo Jackson first overall after he told them there was no way he would sign with them) that are even more putrid.

More recently the Jaguars and Raiders have been inept as well.

At least Chism is a poor man's Ladd in the Slot. I can accept that.

Is his contract guaranteed for injury? Does it have a provision for requiring Polk to sign and injury settlement?
=======
Personally, I would simply allow Polk to come into camp in 2026 and compete.

Don't say that: Homer PatsFans would dispute that claim.

His career will make N'Keal Harry look like a Patriots hall of famer by comparison.

Even Bony Thornton could say see...
