Happy 25th birthday to PatsFans
Born June 17, 2000

Twenty-five years ago today Ian Logue registered the domain name PatsFans.com, and registered as the first member of this forum.

The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

@Ian

your lil' website can now legally drink in all 50 states!

I registered the domain and started planning the site after I learned Rivals.com - the site I was contributing to at the time - was going away.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Thank you to everyone who is still here (and to those who are no longer with us ) for being a part of this crazy corner of the internet we're still managing to hold down, even with how the landscape continues to change. And thank you to those who have supported me both with your PMs over the years during the difficult periods, and for those who have kicked in donations to help me sustain it.

Looking forward to what the next 20 years have in store, and I'll do the best I can to hopefully continue to hold up my end of things, and I'm absolutely forever grateful.

Thanks @jmt57 - Merged my post into this. My almost 50-year-old eyes apparently didn't pan down the page.

LOL. I recently recovered a lot of the content from those early years, pretty psyched about that. Added a "This Week in Patriots History" block, mostly inspired by @jmt57 's posts over the years. Kind of cool to stumble across some of those old articles as they come up. I think there are over 15k of them we've all written over the years...which is bananas.

That is amazing, Ian. Congratulations and thanks for everything!

(I must have joined in 2001 or 2002 because of a reference in the Globe by Nick Cafardo. Everyone says that his heart wasn't in football, but he did a fine job as a beat reporter in my view, and that was the best turn he did this reader.)

He was amazing, and a great guy. I was fortunate enough to meet him back in my days of being down there at the stadium, and he was just a kind and genuine person...and I can still remember the moment I read the piece years later mentioning this place. It was really, really cool. Was definitely saddened when he passed.

Many thanks, Ian! The number of us still hanging around here with a Sep 13, 2004* start date is a tribute to the community you've built. I've learned to be a better football fan here, not to mention learning how to not rise to troll bait. (I've abandoned some mighty fine rants without posting over the years!)

*For those who haven't spent a quarter century here, that was the date of the grand relaunch to this platform. As a website operator myself, I am in awe that Ian has maintained continuity ever since.

I was 17 years old at the time getting ready for my Senior year of high school to begin.

That 2000 season was rough.

Congratulation, Ian! You rock the Interwebs, my friend!

50 years? Pfft, most here are past that, some by a LONG way(I'm 60).
Thanks for all you do buddy.

Good stuff Ian, been posting since the 90’s on boston.com sports forums, but I should have migrated over here sooner. You’ve outlasted them all and are of the highest quality.

Time for a few songs from the PatsFans Greatest Hits album.

Thank you Ian for providing a place where we can go and enjoy the Patriots as well as blow off steam. Hope you have another twenty years in you though I doubt I will make that mark I can enjoy it as long as possible.

@jmt57

"There's no way David Patten makes this team". And another where one poster offered to drink another poster's ... er, micturition.

EDIT: The unforgettable Adam Seward. And NEM on Charlie Weis ...
