Bro, everyone can't be a wide receiver.

Yes they can. 12 guys on the roster, 3 more on PS. Get that fast center running routes. Every lineman has an inner ball carrier anyway.

*wow. that was weird. No more cult meetings for me*

I also saw somewhere that Hollins played more snaps than any other Buffalo receiver last year.
Yes - around 2/3 of snaps. Which makes his 50 total targets more surprising. Very much WR3/4 numbers, although he is a willing blocker. He did best in McDaniel's offense with Las Vegas - a lot of in-cutting routes. Maybe Diggs will rub off on him and elevate his route-running.

So kind of random, but something about Bourne has kind of been rubbing me the wrong way recently. Not like he is locker room poison or something, just with how he has been framing things. Here are some quotes.

“What’s it been like to be reunited with Josh McDaniels?” KB: “It’s been great… it’s been four years since, just to see the man has been awesome. Definitely like hitting off where we left off. It’s been great, very familiar with him, he’s familiar with me. So, it’s just an honor to be back with him, we know his history and everything he’s done. ‘21 was great but everything’s about ‘25 and looking forward to that”

“Do you feel like you fit well with his offense?” KB: “As you all know I had my best year under him. And you look forward to that—I don’t, you know, I’m not banking on that. I work every year—every year is different, so I’m coming into the year just with that mentality, but understanding that relationships are big in this league and if I can build off of that, it’ll help me in whatever area that is to be better. I love his offense, I’m familiar with it, I just kind of know where I fit in, plug and play, different things and just try to excel at what he wants me to do”

Then here he mentions how being the vet this year was hard for him.

It just feels too much like a sales pitch focused on why he hasn't produced recently and why he will fit better with the team this year than past years and trying to up his value to the team so that they keep him. While also slightly shrugging off responsibility for not producing up to his contract.

I think some of it is certainly financially motivated. He knows his contract situation. If cut here he isn't going to make the same else where and he certainly will not be getting a bigger contract most likely after this unless he catches on someone and over produces on a low priced one year vet deal. Now i would never begrudge a player for trying to get paid. I understand this is a business, but this way of framing things just feels like he's saying anything he can in subtle ways in hopes to stick and keep that cash and his job.

When the truth is he just plain hasn't produced up to his contract and needs to do better and that is on him. Which while not sounding great is more honest.

I think you’re just looking for reasons to be negative on Bourne.

When I read thos3 first two quotes to me they read like what I’d expect, and want to hear, from a veteran who previously played for a coach who is rejoining the staff. Positive, but not sounding entitled. If those don’t sound good to you I’ve got to conclude nothing he says will sound good to you.

I mean, how can you find fault with

“…‘21 was great but everything’s about ‘25 and looking forward to that”

And

“I’m not banking on that. I work every year—every year is different, so I’m coming into the year just with that mentality…”

Those sound to me like Bourne has the desired focus on preparing for the coming season. What would you rather hear from him?

I don't really care if they cut/trade him, but he wasn't healthy most of last year coming off that ACL.

He never should've been re-signed to such a contract so early in last year's free agency process in the first place.

It was beyond idiotic. That money could've been applied to Calvin Ridley where the Pats balked over $1M.

Ridley, Diggs, Douglas and Williams could've been the depth chart for Maye this season.

I already said why I don't like it. It feels like a sales pitch. I find players talking about their stats to be a bit tacky. Particularly far after the fact. They can do it once they are retired and it won't bother me then, but while active it runs me the wrong way.

And it isn't only the things he says as much as the Implications of what he doesn't say as well. Like mentioning he is familiar with McDaniels offense. It's true, but to imply he should have an inside track over other players who aren't seems like an implication you don't want to even make. He could have just said he likes Josh and is happy to work with him again. The end. It would have been better and less sounding like him making an argument for why he should stay here, which is kind of what he's doing with him framing and implications, even when followed by ' pre packaged company lines' so to speak. He'd honestly be better off just saying those and leave it at that.

And to be clear. I don't think he's a bad guy. I don't think he's bad for the locker room. I don't even think he is really doing anything wrong trying to frame things to up his value and stay here. He has every right to do it. There is Nothing immoral about his actions.

But I tend to prefer players not even allowing an implication to slip. Let the coaches make their determination and let that be that with you trying to even appear to pitch your case in the media.

You conveniently left out he finished the season with 60 catches, 1,017 yards, 15.9 yards a reception and 4 TD's, but nice try though.

The point was showing how the Pats spent their money elsewhere on an inferior player (Bourne for 3 years $19M) only to balk on a measly extra $1M more for a better player in Ridley.

and you just GUESS and ASSUME that Ridley would have signed with us for another $1M.

Thank you: good ole Patsfans trying to critique other Teams and players. I wonder if he realizes that J Polk Ranked Dead last among WR's. But I'm sure he left that part out: only Baker was worse than Polk... another Pats WR.

I do not think he wanted to play for Mayo and with Brissett as his qb.
Who can blame him. Great decision
