Bro, everyone can't be a wide receiver.
Says who??Bro, everyone can't be a wide receiver.
Yes - around 2/3 of snaps. Which makes his 50 total targets more surprising. Very much WR3/4 numbers, although he is a willing blocker. He did best in McDaniel's offense with Las Vegas - a lot of in-cutting routes. Maybe Diggs will rub off on him and elevate his route-running.I also saw somewhere that Hollins played more snaps than any other Buffalo receiver last year.
So kind of random, but something about Bourne has kind of been rubbing me the wrong way recently. Not like he is locker room poison or something, just with how he has been framing things. Here are some quotes.
“What’s it been like to be reunited with Josh McDaniels?” KB: “It’s been great… it’s been four years since, just to see the man has been awesome. Definitely like hitting off where we left off. It’s been great, very familiar with him, he’s familiar with me. So, it’s just an honor to be back with him, we know his history and everything he’s done. ‘21 was great but everything’s about ‘25 and looking forward to that”
“Do you feel like you fit well with his offense?” KB: “As you all know I had my best year under him. And you look forward to that—I don’t, you know, I’m not banking on that. I work every year—every year is different, so I’m coming into the year just with that mentality, but understanding that relationships are big in this league and if I can build off of that, it’ll help me in whatever area that is to be better. I love his offense, I’m familiar with it, I just kind of know where I fit in, plug and play, different things and just try to excel at what he wants me to do”
Then here he mentions how being the vet this year was hard for him.
It just feels too much like a sales pitch focused on why he hasn't produced recently and why he will fit better with the team this year than past years and trying to up his value to the team so that they keep him. While also slightly shrugging off responsibility for not producing up to his contract.
I think some of it is certainly financially motivated. He knows his contract situation. If cut here he isn't going to make the same else where and he certainly will not be getting a bigger contract most likely after this unless he catches on someone and over produces on a low priced one year vet deal. Now i would never begrudge a player for trying to get paid. I understand this is a business, but this way of framing things just feels like he's saying anything he can in subtle ways in hopes to stick and keep that cash and his job.
When the truth is he just plain hasn't produced up to his contract and needs to do better and that is on him. Which while not sounding great is more honest.

I don't really care if they cut/trade him, but he wasn't healthy most of last year coming off that ACL.
It was beyond idiotic. That money could've been applied to Calvin Ridley where the Pats balked over $1M.He never should've been re-signed to such a contract so early in last year's free agency process in the first place.
I think you’re just looking for reasons to be negative on Bourne.
When I read thos3 first two quotes to me they read like what I’d expect, and want to hear, from a veteran who previously played for a coach who is rejoining the staff. Positive, but not sounding entitled. If those don’t sound good to you I’ve got to conclude nothing he says will sound good to you.
I mean, how can you find fault with
“…‘21 was great but everything’s about ‘25 and looking forward to that”
And
“I’m not banking on that. I work every year—every year is different, so I’m coming into the year just with that mentality…”
Those sound to me like Bourne has the desired focus on preparing for the coming season. What would you rather hear from him?
This the guy you’re talking about? It was beyond idiotic. That money could've been applied to Calvin Ridley where the Pats balked over $1M.
Ridley, Diggs, Douglas and Williams could've been the depth chart for Maye this season.
You conveniently left out he finished the season with 60 catches, 1,017 yards, 15.9 yards a reception and 4 TD's, but nice try though.
and you just GUESS and ASSUME that Ridley would have signed with us for another $1M.You conveniently left out he finished the season with 60 catches, 1,017 yards, 15.9 yards a reception and 4 TD's, but nice try though.
The point was showing how the Pats spent their money elsewhere on an inferior player (Bourne for 3 years $19M) only to balk on a measly extra $1M more for a better player in Ridley.
Really can WR's Throw it and catch it?? IF so Ridley would have a lot more catches.
Thank you: good ole Patsfans trying to critique other Teams and players. I wonder if he realizes that J Polk Ranked Dead last among WR's. But I'm sure he left that part out: only Baker was worse than Polk... another Pats WR.You conveniently left out he finished the season with 60 catches, 1,017 yards, 15.9 yards a reception and 4 TD's, but nice try though.

Those who live in Glass House shouldn't throw stones.
I do not think he wanted to play for Mayo and with Brissett as his qb.You conveniently left out he finished the season with 60 catches, 1,017 yards, 15.9 yards a reception and 4 TD's, but nice try though.
