Wow. BB's reaction and words about Vrabel are so much different than his "references" about Mayo.
BB actually said "I love Mike" and how much of a prepared and smart player & coach he is.
He never got close to saying things like that about Mayo - at least in the last couple years...
And that's because he knew the mutiny that was being schemed with Mayo & Kraft.
Maybe it was time for a change last yr but signing a coach in waiting without the current coach knowing likely is a disaster. It destroyed the relationship betweeb Bill and mayo, and likely affected how people in the building did the job once they knew bill was going to be gone and in the end it ended being a bigger mess that it was in terms of dysfunction

No no. You said the reason the team got worse the three last years of BB's tenure means that you think that with a better QB, the would have been better. Therefore, they were a QB away.

Follow the logic.
They got rid of the coach though so then they were a coach and QB away. Hopefully Vrabel is that guy and we can be back on our way.

This thread is BRUTAL. Most comments essentially amount to "we're ****ed, back to the basement"
Definitely worth checking out. The best part is that the posters make us look like we understand football. If you are a Jets fan it means that you had that curse passed to you via heredity. After years of their ancestors being rejected by average or above humans due to their cursed allegiance, the gene pool has sunk to new lows. LOL

I was kinda pulling for Ben Johnson for the simple fact that I am ready to see a very different product on offense. I have watched the Lions and yes they have a ton of talent but the unique play designs have been very impressive. I think Vrabel brings everything else over Johnson but the Lions offense is something to watch. Lets hope that Mike can bring in some talent and coaches that also want to truly overhaul the offense and not just be another version of the same ole same.

Why didn't he agree with the Mayo firing, I wonder...
He was a teammate so he had first hand knowledge of how much football he knows and how he lead on the field. I think it's easy to see how someone like Logan would not see 1 year as a fair shot. He also probably didn't watch the mess as closely as us.

Insane to listen to Vrabel in all the radio and interviews he's done, and realize neither coach over the last 25 years related genuine but basic info in a sensible and relational manner.
Is it that hard to be a regular human as a football coach?

Not trying to pile on Mayo's ineptitude, but he talked A LOT, and never said anything of note.

No it’s because he is black like Mayo. DEI or something is what the poster was getting at.

Yep. The Chargers game wasn't just a blowout loss at the hands of a better football team... it was also total coaching and organizational incompetence on display for the whole country. Probably the most embarrassing loss in the history of Gillette Stadium. Kraft had to make the move.
Right on par with the Kiam regime. It was truly rock bottom then, too. Embarrassment everywhere, it was the norm them

?

Belichick did it constantly. But not when it was about game strategy. In general, he'd always talk football.

I dont know what Vrabel was like at Tennessee but we'll see if he talks about game prep for a real NFL game in New England

Very few head coaches are normal. McDermott once used the hijackers from 9/11 as an analogy for great team work. Vrabel is far from normal as well lmao. I'm glad he isn't normal.

In fact, rarely are normal NPC-like HC's are that great. Mayo was a quintessential Normal Person and that's why he bloviates with little meaning.

Look at Mazzulla. Weird as hell. Everyone loves his extremely weird responses lol.

It'd be interesting to listen to Bill when he first came here. It seemed like he was less stone-faced in those early years.

Apparently there’s chatter in league circles that Vrabel didn’t take that early Jets interview to antagonize Kraft, because he already had a good idea it was his job anyway, but instead took it to go scope out the Jets while their season was still in-session and get a bunch of free intel about their whole operation right before he has to start playing against them twice a year.

If true that’s ****ed up and also genius.

That’s a great take. I hope it’s true. And given he told Brady not to bother with him because he was going to the Pats it could very well be true.
