Tavai: “Booing fans should know their place”

I well remember those days. And sadly, it can not only get that bad, but it can get worse (the team could eventually get sold and a new owner could move it out of New England).
That is true but I don't think that is a realistic scenario.

they’re not qualified to do what Mayo is doing or whatever the Krafts are doing

I’m not a qualified rocket scientist, so I can’t design a rocket.

But I can tell when a designer delivers a turd instead of a rocket ship, and to say that they should be fired for that.

People, this isn't the 90's. The Patriots are the 3rd highest NFL team by net worth. There is no chance they move because there is nowhere they could move to which would be a profitable investment

Is this the type of “team culture” we want to keep?

The relevant quote: "There's a reason they're fans. Everybody can say what they think we should be doing. They're not qualified to be doing what Mayo is doing or the Krafts are doing or whatever. They're fans. I appreciate them at times, but sometimes they just gotta know their place..."

Mayo and Kraft wanted to “fundamentally transform” the New England Patriots … And they have…

I thought coaches worked insane hours. How does he have time for deep personal conversations to hash things out and hug with a different player every single day? No to mention daily afternoon tea with Thunder.
Those are his job.

What else do you think he’s doing?

Heard the whole interview, seems like he was moody from the start. And kudos to the Greg Hill folks for going back and forth on him on it. He asked Wiggy to agree with him and he said nah you’re on your own on this one. Got a little awkward.

I don't know the inner workings but I'm %99 sure they have already worked out the transition of power from Bob to Jonathan and that there will be no selling of the franchise until the generation after Jonathan at the earliest.

And also with the investments to renovate the stadium that isn't going anywhere for probably another 20 years at least too.

I’ve often wondered what kind of hours Mayo and his crew are putting in … Bill & Brady were pretty epic for their long days … of course productivity/quality is just as important as quantity

I used to put in the same hours as other coworkers but I never worked as hard that caught up with me too.

Surprisingly it took them 17 years. I hope Kraft acts quicker than that lol.

The most impactful undertaking that the fans can accomplish on Sunday is not to boo - but rather, simply not show up.
That would include not giving or selling the tickets to somebody else (unless perhaps to Bills fans).

Doing so would provide the figuratively loudest statement possible.
Why Bills fans?

They should be rooting for the Pats to win and lose the #1 pick?

Lol. Tavai is one to talk about people knowing their place. This defence couldn't find the opposing RB/QB/WR with a map and compass.

I was thinking more along the line of the Krafts seeing their stadium filled with fans from the opposition, making it feel like an away game.

But a sea of empty seats is a better visual; even moreso if it is a reasonably pleasant day, so the low attendance cannot be written off as due to the weather.

He needs to realize that he's, in effect, just a high ticket busker. Telling the folks whom you want to drop a buck in your guitar case to "know your place" is just totally un-self-aware.
Maybe Mayo isn’t the only one who needs to be called out by name by the fans on Sunday.

That is true but I don't think that is a realistic scenario.
Perhaps. But can agree that it's by no means impossible. Of course, I hope it doesn't happen. I have over 50 years invested in this team.

In the meantime, let's hope we don't return to an extended period of a return to a Rod Rust Era Patriots. Or reasonable facsimile thereof.

Not to take your question sideways but I think it depends on the person. Some people function well on little sleep. Some don't.

I thought BB said he sleeps in the office Sunday night, Tue, and Wed and gets a few hours each night.

If Mayo works 4am-8pm, sees his wife & kids for a bit and gets 6-7 hrs of sleep, i'm not going to criticize him for not working hard. Thats a 16hr day. I will criticize him what he is doing in that time as his results suck.

Interesting article..

This is about as out of touch a player can get with this comment.

He’s been on the my list of the most hated LB’s and he’s rising in rankings joining Gary Guyton, Pierre Woods, John Simon, Monty Biesel and Eric Alexander.

This post dynasty Patriots are very unlikable.

He's right but publicly complaining that fans should act like civil human beings towards players and coaches is a losing battle. It's normalized for people to turn the part of their brains off that makes them not act like a rude POS when they're dealing with professional athletes. It isn't going to change for this Tavai or anyone on this team and he'll only make it worse by complaining about it like this.
It comes with the territory.

The fans are footing the bill.

Many of us have been watching for half a century or more.

We can tell when there's coaching incompetence and a huge level of dysfunction out there, and if you're paying money (I'm not since I live far away) then you're being cheated by bad decisions.

Personally, I've been writing all year about the enormous upgrades needed at the linebacker positions. I was half in with Tavai knowing he couldn't cover backs out of the backfield, just because he COULD stop the run. This year he is doing neither.
