I'm encouraged by Maye. Didn't like the coaching. Didn't like not giving more help to the tackles. Don't remember any inside breakaways. How bad is Nick Leverette if they started a guy just off the plane? What's up with Polk, can't catch? Boutte continues to show up. Defensive front four not good enough. Bad sign when the Defensive and Offensive lines are the weakest points on your team.

Something to enjoy in Maye.
Terrible officiating in the first half. Bogus PI call on Mapu and how did you miss the face mask grab. TO on the next play which resulted in a td by Texans. That’s almost two TDs given to them by the officials. Take them away and we were right there.

Defense is shorthanded lack of talent is obvious without Bentley Barmore and Peppers.

Way too many penalties again, need to cut those down not talented enough to overcome em.

If the Pats ever want to get good again, they have to dump Mayo and bring in a real coach who can bring in a better staff more familiar with what he wants to do.

The defense still can't keep up with competent teams. Injured players would've made a difference.

Douglas celebrating a TD while they were getting their asses kicked in the 4th quarter is embarrassing. This is what the Pats are now.

This team has a long way to go. It’s hard to even know where to start. If this last offseason is a look into Wolfe’s rebuilding skills, I’m concerned about how long, if ever, it will take to get to playoff caliber. Polk, Robinson and Wallace have been a non-factor when given plenty of time to prove that they belong. His FA signings aside from Gibson have been uninspiring. The only thing they’ve got going for them is the perceived potential of Maye. There were a few hits that looked to take him out but he survived, hung in there, and aside from the turnovers showed he could hang with the big boys. Let’s hope he continues to grow, reduce the mistakes, and give the team a real core piece to build off of. AVP needs to go and a few more games of putrid defense and Im ready to call the Covington experience a bust as well.

Glad to see the next generation of the Patriots now finally in full motion. Of course there will be growing pains with a rookie head coach and qb. But at least we are off the "bridge" and in action.

Speaking of Polk, he had zero catches but git hit in the hands a few times, hopefully it's one bad game.

He also didn't run to a beautiful throw by Maye, he misjudged it. Would've been a perfect throw but Polk cut his route short, and then lunged for the ball.

I get the excitement for Maye, I really do. After the QB play we've seen since Tom left it was a ray of sunshine. But let's not kid ourselves, we still lost by 20 points.
I'm not sold on the coaching and especially the play calling. This team still has a long climb to just reach repectability levels yet alone contention levels.

In the first quarter, the Texans were called for illegal shift on a 3rd down with an incompletion that would make it 4th and long.

Inexplicably, Mayo accepted the penalty.

Can anyone tell me what happened there?

How is this possible?

99% of the fans would've declined the penalty.
