Do you think they are happy with Wolfe today?

I suspect 'they' give considerably less of a damn than you seem to. You're not usually leading the charge out there to the ledge when the business side drives the bus. Was Judon a drinking buddy of yours? He came here as a mercenary, he leaves here as one. The players understand that business is business, they know they're not in high school. It's only a sport to the fans. To most everyone else involved it's strictly business and business is business

I try not to be too knee jerk and I usually try to focus on the positive of whatever the move might be or when evaluating our guys. But this team doesn't have a lot of stars and he was one so it's been difficult for me to come to grips with this one.

Bill used to talk about taking both a short term and long term look at things and it's hard to see how the long term benefits of a 3rd round pick out ways the short term benefits of Judon.

I surely hope this year is the last rebuilding year....I think playoffs could be in the picture for 2025

Seems pretty simple to me.

Short term the team had the sense Judon a) was going to be a distraction and b) with him will be a sub .500 team in 2024 and c) The need to see what White can do.

Long term a) he will get older and still most likely not a contender in 2025 and b) the contract situation will not go away and c) a 3rd rd pick is a very good return. You make it sound like it was a 7th.

You would think after 20+ years of BB's cutthroat, shrewd style of roster management, more fans would appreciate and understand that more often than not, teams are better off not paying a ton of money on older players.

Yeah. This sounds a lot like the hand wringing over Lawyer Milloy.

White is going to play a lot probably %80-90 regardless of who starts on the other edge.

I don't care about record or contender if helps us get one game closer to that if it doesn't put us over the top to actual contention it's still worth it. If you're not getting better you're getting worse.

It's not that a 3rd isn't good return I just don't bank on 3rd round picks the way I do first and second. I expect you should get good players out of the first 2 rounds the rest is tough to bank on especially right away.

A) we got better return
B) we didn't have the cap space to afford him
C) most fans still wanted Lawyer more than the pick
D) we had Harrison in his place

Fundamentally it's the fans hand wringing over a popular player being moved... maybe a year early but as Bill said that's better than the alternative of a moving on a year late.

We don't know that but no question he'd play more than last year if Judon was here

Winning 5 games with Judon and 4 games without him is incremental. If it was 12 with Judon and 4 without then you have a point.

Accurate but think of the pick as not a player but capital/value. If they bundle the 3rd with a 1st and move up the board to get the best LT in the 2025 draft then it was worth it.

Not only that, but getting a high 3rd round pick and looks like falcons will not extend him.means he's a 1 year rental. Great value for the pats.

Except that 3rd-rounder’s not gonna be very high, at all.

The NFCS is the Worst division in the league, and the Fail-Cons are gonna walk all over the other teams in it, including Tampa.

That pick’s gonna be in the mid-80s, at best. Da Bears’ 3rd-rounder, OTOH…

Coaching?? You need Good Players to coach up sady there aren't many on this Team. Mayo pressers are going to suck poor guy not a good way to start. Football is not going to be fun around here anymore. With Judon we would have a Defense that can compete guys like him don't grow on trees. Hope the Third Rounder turn into a Hofer we have already punted on the season. I hope the season ticket holders make Kraft pay.
I'm thrilled to have Jerod Mayo (a former Pats player) as the new HC.

I wonder what the Pats could get for their 3rd rounder. That could be the 65th pick.

I'm on the fence with Mayo. Nothing against him. Wish they had brought in a coach with a track record of success.

A change was desperately needed, Hopefully he works out.

No one is conceding anything. The only thing that's nuts is thinking that they're a super bowl caliber team in the next 3 years.

But yes I would trade anybody on this team right now if it built up the team in a better spot in 3 years and we're currently heading towards

We need an entire offensive line, we need a number one and a number two wide receiver, and we're probably going to need some defensive lineman by the time we can make those adjustments.

This team is completely drained of any serious talent
This offense is historically bad. How the hell did it get to this point?

It appears that the deal was done with Kraft and Mayo prior to Bill leaving.

I think Mayo may have learned some things on the way and could end up a top HC.
