Ok. I get that. Definitely agree here... but what I'm asking you is. What if he's leaps and bounds ahead of Brissett.. meaning Drake is moving the ball, making few mistakes, taking care of the ball. And Brissette is struggling? During camp.. what would you do.?
Play Brissett. I have said it repeatedly, until the offensive line can be productive in the run game, and protect the QB consistently I don’t want Maye on the field. Whether he’s better than Brissett in camp or not I want Mayo to go with Brissett until Maye understands the offense completely, and the OL is where it needs to be. Sending him out there to run for his life, and fail executing the offense because it isn’t good enough yet, is the worst thing you can do to a young QB. Brady sat for a year behind Bledsoe and even he looked raw when he first started playing consistently. As he got more familiar with being out there his game progressed steadily, but going from a college offense to playing against pro defenses is a huge step, and there is no need at all to rush it. Have patience, let them get their new coaches, players, and systems in place. Concentrate all working properly then you see where Maye is at, whether he’s really ready, and make the decision on starting him or not.
