It was 2 games into the season.

Prior year was a complete rebuild, jettisoned top players like Terry Glenn, brought in guys to hold the fort like Anthony Pleasant. They finally got the guys in place.

You're elevating to new heights of being disingenuous, which is surprising even to me.
You still haven't even attempted to come up with a rebuttal to my question.

Bledsoe was clearly a bad fit to the offense. They ran a ton under center in 2000 because Woody couldn’t snap a football out of the shotgun. So they got Mike Compton to do that in 2001. Bledsoe was still bad against Cincinnati and NYJ. Bledsoe was a big play downfield thrower, but Glenn was the only threat. Troy Brown was his 3rd down guy.

So you think Bledsoe would’ve miraculously turned it around after going 0-2 without Glenn with Bill eventually getting rid of him in favor of Troy Brown and Patten as his WR’s, Wiggins as his TE and the patience to dump it off to Faulk and Redmond?

Your dedication to Bill is impressive.

Unfortunately we are many players away from a good(scoring) offense. It's just not a QB.

Is our 3rd rb Montgomery? Kind of sad

Just because he might be "fine" in one area, doesn't excuse the rest. They are 2-10 and are badly trending in the wrong direction.

The defense isn't as good as advertised and some of you guys are still in that trap you've fallen into the last few years. They still get bullied by good teams, but that is quickly ignored by many after they get back on track playing bad teams and when the weather kicks in. This is only the 3rd QB under an 80 QB rating this year. All other QB's have been above this. Judon is a big loss. Gonzalez has proven nothing.
OK, I agree with almost all that you say.

My somewhat "simple" point is that we should focus on the area that needs an enormous amount of help. It will NOT help the team to get rid of even average defensive players. They would just need to be replaced.

The Offense is truly FUBAR. For 2024, we have zero QB's, zero OT's and zero TE's. That's 10 roster spots.

We have Douglas as our WR, and Stevenson as our RB. We will likely carry five WR's and 3 RB's. That's 6 more roster spots.

And to prevent Andy's rant, yes, I understand that we have over $100M of cap money. And, while we don't need to draft on Defense, we do need to re-sign or replace Dugger, Mills, Jennings, and Uche. That really isn't much work to do.

I still say Kraft needs to let him finish the year. No matter what Belichick might do, you gotta do the right thing and not embarrass the guy who got you six rings and countless more AFC championships and conference title appearances by firing him midseason. Kraft needs to do that for his legacy as well as Belichick's.

I think there is a lot of speculation of what Belichick might do, but no one knows. My guess is that he wants to leave and go somewhere with a much better situation and try to get the wins record and possibly another ring. If he stays here, he will stripped of his GM responsibilities and be looking at a complete rebuild that could take longer than he will be coaching (and he only one year left on his contract anyway). I think he wants to redeem himself by going out with at least a winning record, if not another ring. He isn't getting that here for one more year.
Yes, Kraft should wait until the end of the season to get rid of Belichick. It really accomplishes little to name Mayo as the interim coach now. kraft needs to find a GM, and then a coach.

In any case, Belichick should get us a draft choice from the Giants after the season is over.

No doubt, the offense is priority #1.

You're kidding right? Michael Vick and Donovan Mcnabb were both Pro Bowl level talents, Vick selected 4x and McNabb selected 6x. Both QBs but especially Michael Vick were the prototype for dual threat QBs who could both run the ball and throw the ball.

If Michael Vick was playing in today's NFL where the defense isn't allowed to do anything remotely close to hurting the QB, he'd put up video game numbers that would easily compete with or beat Jalen Hurts numbers.

Reid has had the privilege of working with VERY GOOD QB talent. It's just that Mahomes was the transcendent one that finally allowed him to break his "playoff curse." Reid is literally the dictionary definition of this coach was made by his elite QB.
Reid took Jeff Garcia to the playoffs and took Alex Smith to the playoffs

Im not sure of a full rebuild whatever that means, the defense is good and will better next year so we draft a good QB (key here) a couple of other good offensive players and sign some guys in free agency since they got money, they could turn it around pretty quick IF, they make the right choices.
By my count, we need 16 re-signs or acquisitions on Offense. That is indeed a complete rebuild. Some would say even more.

We need 3 QB's, 4 OT's. 4 WR's, 3 TE's and 2 RB's.

I don't think they're inflated, the league appears to track it based on tickets sold. Tickets are purchased ahead of time, and many of those ended up on the secondary market.
I'm sure someone else responded but in case they didn't you have to remember it's a 20 year waiting list these are all sold. Somewhere between half and 3/4 attended by my guestimate. So a lot of people just ate the cost.

Agree.
The next coach is gonna suck so bad it isn't funny. I don't care who it is.
Don't you mean that we posters won't give the new coach a chance and will deem him to be terrible from Day 1.

I wouldn’t hate this if we don’t think Williams or Maye are can’t miss franchise guys
As long as we doesn't include BB his talent evaluation on Offense is worse than blind monkey making the selections. I'll take my chances with the monkey .

hmm

I suspect that most coaches would NOT have done all that well with Vick or McNabb.

This is moronic in the extreme.

Brady was not the great QB he later became in that year. He was managed, watch the Super Bowl for heaven's sake. It was a defensive clinic. Brady later became great but that 2001 team lived on its defensive prowess.

I don't know when you started watching the Patriots but I'm beginning to suspect it was after 2001 if you can't even acknowledge what the strengths of that team were.

No. I honestly think whoever it is will be facing an insurmountable obstacle in the way of installing a whole new staff/philosophy, a major portion of the roster, and THEN our expectations. Will the guy get 3 or 4 years? Patience is almost non-existent these days. Plus, he might not be NFL HC material to begin with, which in itself is an expensive experiment.

I’m now of the mind that Kraft should fire BB now.

Bill has all the leverage…he’ll just half-ass it out of spite.

If you won’t be able to get comp, and it’s going to get ugly anyway, why keep this up?

Bill seems the type to spite Kraft by not showing for future ceremonies anyway, so just get it over with.
This just sounds like typical Breer guessing to me.

In all likelihood Kraft will want a pick for Bill, Bill won’t want his new team to lose their first rounder. They’ll settle on a 2nd and call it a day.

I basically just told about stuff about players prior to 2001. So your played out rebuttal of I started watching after 2001 doesn’t work buddy.

And you still can’t answer the question regarding Bledsoe. You still have to move the ball and scores some points which Tom did.

Figures.

I start with the presumption that the Kraft's and their GM will hire a competent NFL coach and put together a competent and unified coaching staff. Why wouldn't he want to continue to increase the value of the team?

Will the GM get 3-4 year from Kraft? Sure. Why wouldn't he? Coaches are on short leashes, but 3 years seems reasonable, since the Offense is a total rebuild.

OF COURSE, there needs to be a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C in dealing with deficiency at QB. It can't just be to draft a 1st found QB and wait three years to see if it works and then try again. We need to have our top QB prospect (probably in the first few picks in the draft) plus a veteran to start 2024, and perhaps even 2025. AND THEN, there needs to be a developmental prospect as our #3. emergency QB. Many teams have needed to use their #3). Not having even ONE qualified backup for 2023 was and is malfeasance.

Bill is so bad that based on quality and performance, he should be immediately fired. The game has passed him by. The only reason to keep until the end of the year is so that Kraft can have time to choose a GM and then get a draft choice for him.

Why should any team want to consider giving us a 2nd?
