It always amazes me how little work sports radio hosts and even some beat writers do in terms of researching the background of draft picks and prospects and role players on other teams. Felger and Mazz demonstrate on a daily basis how little knowledge they have but I was listening to Bedard on the latest Patriots Postgame Show. For some reason, they started to talk about the Dolphins blowout and he said “ I saw the running back, what’s his name, Achne (which he pronounced as Awk-ne) had a 60 yard run…..”. He was obviously talking about Achane.
We are talking about a fairly high profile draft pick on a division rival who was a binky of many national “draft experts” and the beat writer who portrays himself as as such a voracious watcher of film can’t even come close to getting his name right? Not to mention the fact that he used to cover the Dolphins. Pa-the-tic.
Lombardi may be the worst of the high profile national guys. He legitimately has dyslexia when it comes to names of players and also front office members. He always called Harry “K’Neal” and calls Caserio “Sessario”. He makes similar mistakes every week.
