Sounds like he's made his football decision, but is trying to finagle the finances before finalizing the financial decision

Yeah, my guess is he knows exactly how long he needs to learn the theory side of a playbook before training camp (which might be a little less in New England's case because he's familiar with O'Brien), and so he knows he has until that deadline to see if another team comes in with a late offer. Best case for him, a dark horse emerges and his value increases, either with that team or by raising the offer of the Patriots/Titans. Worst case, he signs a week or so before TC and goes with it. But there's no real advantage to him signing early, unless he got some indication from NE or TEN that their offers had time limits on them. It's not like there's another comparable WR currently on the market that they could move on to while he decides.

Made his decision or just no other interest from other teams?
Maybe that or a combination of teams interested that he's not interested in.

Perhaps there's a cap reason. There could be a verbal agreement, with even one on paper, but nothing signed until _______ date.
I think D-Hop was hoping for a contender to bite but it seems they are not that desperate. Both Mahomes and Allen are playmakers who got decent Offensive Pieces in the Draft. Mahomes have a year two Skyy Moore plus K Toney and Rookie Rashee Rice. Allen possible got the Best TE from the 2023 Draft when they selected Dalton Kincaid. I had a empty feeling in my stomach after they made that selection.

I think in KC's at least they would need to shift some cap around, and they just don't have a real motivation to do so. They traded one of the best WR's in the game then won the Super Bowl. I think they're confident they can make the offense work with Kelce and "good enough" WRs, and aren't going to overextend themselves for a 31 year old Hopkins.

The Bills are more puzzling to me. Feels like they've been looking for that #2 reliable guy behind Diggs, and unless they've putting all their eggs in Kincaid being a factor right away, I thought they'd be more interested in Hopkins.

I thought the Bills Drafted the next Kelce in Kincaid.

D-Hop would make the Chiefs Repeat... as for the Bills I don't get the Gabe Davis hate He's a Good Deep Threat who catches a little over half of his Targets. IF T Thornton post Davis numbers we would call him a Steal.

All I want for my bday today is a Hopkins signing!
Happy birthday to you. You must must be young diehard fan, being happy with player signing on your birthday.

Chiefs are going to repeat regardless. As long as Mahomes and Kelce stay healthy, they will win it.

Chiefs are great and respect to them but I don't think this is correct.. Bills could take them out, Bengals too.. I could see the Eagles going all the way this year. A lot of possibilities beyond the Chiefs repeating IMO.

Football’s a lot more than two players. They lost Juju to the Pats and who knows if Kadarius Toney keeps his head on straight another season now that he’s the top WR. Beyond Kelce and Toney they have Marquez Valdez-Scantling and Skyy Moore. Obviously Mahomes is good but that seems like a group teams can hang with.

Don't forget the Rice kid from SMU good Rookie Prospect who could make an Impact. Also it's Toney and Moore's second year in Andy Reed's system love their upside.

Not sure I can see the Eagles (who lost 5 starters on defense) going all the way.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Chiefs do with their revamped O-line (2 new OTs). Especially if they are going to live/die on moving Taylor to LT. A position he only played twice as a sophomore in College

The Bills lost a big piece of their defense when they lost Edmunds. Keeping Poyer will help cover that, but they really didn't replace him. It will be interesting to see how Von Miller does returning from injury. Adding Kincaid to Knox, Shakir, Diggs, and Davis make them a match-up nightmare for most other teams. Especially with the stable of RBs in Cook, Harris, Hines, and Murray. I'm not sold on the Bills O-line though.

IF D-Hop doesn’t make a decision this week I think he has other plans and is hoping for better Teams.
Was stated previously he may wait until TC is mostly over. Probably still hoping for injury to arise so he can extract more $
No incentive for him to sign right now

IF he going to do that he won't be signing here he's going to need full TC to build chemistry with his new QB hopefully that's Mac 10.

I don't think there will be another team that steps up. Hopkins isn't asking for that much. The likelihood of a team losing their top WR in training camp or the preseason is pretty low. Teams lose players to injuries in the preseason, but that doesn't mean it will be a top WR and with an injury that will force them to be out for more than a few weeks.

You’re right the cost is the biggest issue. If the cost is reasonable and the interest is there from cook we should absolutely explore the possibility. We already released Robinson. Cook could fill the void left by Harris. We would have an improved 1-2 punch than we’ve had the last few seasons.
I believe the key word is reasonable cost.. cook is a phenomenal back. If we could get him for nice price would be good.. however I'm perfectly content with our backfield right now.. rham, Kevin Harris and strong jr.. with ty Montgomery is a nice mix.

The chiefs are learning what the patriots learned. When you have a qb who elevates the players he throws to, it’s smarter to go cheap there, and let the QB elevate them and spend on other positions he can’t help than to give him shiny toys that just make his job easy at the expense of the rest of the team.
The Patriots won far more SBs with that approach than they would have by spending resources to make Brady’s life (unnecessarily) easier. They learned that from 2007-2013.

We don't know that. One report I saw said he is asking for more than OBJ got.

he can look for what he wants. but fact is there are only 2 teams willing to pay him

wow!!! Thanx Scott!!! and here I was going to place my entire life savings on Seabiscuit in the 7th...woo hoo!...looks like I'm gonna be a hundredaire now!
Looks like Hammer's got a third account.
