The Mahomes/Chiefs Discussion Thread

That's your opinion. And that demolition was done by the Bucs defense, which far outperformed Brady in that game. Brady's overall stats from SB 55 is nothing special. Face it, the world does not bow down to Brady like you do. And that poll is proof. You yourself said that he was the "universal GOAT." If he was, he would have won that poll by over 90%. Instead he can't even crack 50%.

Looks like only 43% of America thinks Brady is the GOAT...LMAO. I was told it was overwhelming and that he was "universal" or something.

That's pretty overwhelming he has 43% while the closest person has 11% lol

A 72% comp, 3 TD 0 INT and 125 rating is "nothing special"... ok
Yet my boy gets wet over Mahomes performance over the Eagles where he threw less than 200 yards lol I won't diminish Mahomeboy he was key part of why they won, but he can't have it both ways

Mahomes had fewer possessions in SB 57 than Brady did in SB 55. I already thought I explained that...

You conveniently didn't mention his mere 201 yards....which basically tells me Brady dinked and dunked his way to another win. THis is despite having 10 offensive possessions.

It's pretty sad, actually. His numbers and accolades suggest that he should have a lot more than 43%. It appears that he's not as respected as you'd think. Let's just say a couple of "controversies" over the past 20 years probably have something to do with his low numbers.

OTOH, nearly 70% of Americans say Jordan is the NBA GOAT...Americans know game when they see it.

"Mere" lol. Better not look at Kermit's yardage then from this past Super Bowl. LMAO

SB 57 - Mahomes:

8 possessions

24 minutes TOP

26 points

SB 55 - Timmy:

10 possessions

29 minutes TOP

31 points

How is this insanity continuing?

Who cares when it was taken. Kermit doesn't belong anywhere near the top of the GOAT list with a 5 year career and 2-1 record in Super Bowl and the 1 being a total demolition by the guy on top of the list.
IMO he's currently vying for a "Top 10-12 of all time spot" and I'd be comfortable putting him there if he simply plays at an elite level into his 30s. Winning a ring without Reid (which he'll have to do at some point) would also elevate his case greatly in my eyes.

But yeah, dude needs to win 2 more rings for his candidacy to even enter the discussion in earnest IMO.

Looks awfully similar to me. They both had good games and did their jobs there's no need to diminish either

Mahomes lost to Brady twice in their only two postseason matchups. On both occasions Brady won the Super Bowl. Mahomes will not be able to overcome this. If and when the GOAT argument ever gets close between Brady and Mahomes, the postseason matchups will take on greater importance and likely be the deciding factor for Brady.

In the meantime, Mahomes has other quarterbacks to hurtle first, such as Peyton Manning and Joe Montana, both of whom are way behind Brady, so really Brady vs Mahomes talk is ridiculous. I think Mahomes will pass everyone up to and including Peyton. He'll need 4 or 5 Super Bowl rings to pass Montana, I think he gets to 4. There are too many young elite QBs in the NFL right now to envision Mahomes getting all the way to 7 rings. And if he doesn't get there (at least) then he'll never pass Brady.

This is what happens when pretzel logic is used to compare a guy who has a 20+ year completed body of work with a guy who, although having an immense start that's worthy of praise, simply hasn't gotten far enough into his story to proclaim any final judgment. If Mahomes wins 2, 3 more rings, okay. But we're 2 years at a minimum out from even having that talk.

Honestly, I was kinda entertained by the back-and-forth until our guy here started bringing up Spygate and insinuating that it instantly subtracts 3 rings from Brady's case. That's not just an insult to him, it's an insult to Bill, that amazing dynasty era defense, and the franchise as a whole that willingly ignores (in order) 1): How widespread the practice was prior to 2007 (I defer to Bill Cowher and Jimmy Johnson here) 2): The fact that the "stealing" of signals was actually easy to, and often was, counteracted by coaches who knew it was going on and adjusted accordingly, 3): The reality that it was was hardly the only, or even the most decisive, way that a SB winning team has gained a competitive advantage: (see Denver circumventing the cap for one example).

And Brady lost to Manning in 3 AFCCGs. On top of that he lost to Sanchez, Tannehill, Plummer, Eli x 2, Dak, Foles, and Flacco in the playoffs. Head-to-head can never be a tiebreaker in a team sport where there are 53 players and over a dozen coaches. Brady's head to head against bum QBs is embarrassing. At least mahomes lost to two good QBs in Brady and Burrow (and 2 of those games went to OT).

Since when are most super bowls the deciding factor as to who is the GOAT?

Baseball - Yogi Berra who has the most WS is not the GOAT

Basketball - Bill Russell who has the most NBA championships is not the GOAT

Hockey - Mark Messier who has the most Cups is not the GOAT

Brady won 4 Super Bowls, 3 Super Bowl MVPs, and an NFL MVP after Deflategate. He also should have won league MVP in 2016 and 2021. And BB cost him an 8th SB in 2017 (and probably a 9th in 2015). Deflategate and Spygate are complete nonfactors when evaluating Brady's NFL career.

Spygate is going to dog Belichick a little bit since it was his blatant arrogance to blame. But none of the Patriots Lombardi's are tarnished at this point. Only haters hold onto their pathetic arguments.

Brady is well past all of those QBs you mention. He's well past any QB you name. So he lost to Peyton in some postseason game. Good for Peyton, he didn't choke every single time, although he was a pile of **** in SB 55.

That 2021 AFCCG loss by the Chiefs was entirely the fault of Mahomes. He couldn't have played any worse after halftime. Really disgraceful. Totally embarrassed himself.

So what does it tell you about the so-called GOAT that he can't even beat Jake Plummer, Foles, or Tannehill in the playoffs?

Brady had numerous playoff stinkers, including SB 42 when he only had 1 TD pass. That's pathetic considering the Pats averaged 38 PPG during the regular season. Even more pathetic that he laughed at his opponent pre-game. And that was the most important game in NFL history.
