Best way to get an elite QB

Two kinds of elite QBs. One makes magic happen on his own. The other works with a supporting cast. Maye is most definitely the latter. Just look at his college career.

If the OL doesn’t get fixed, nothing much will improve.

Teams win Super Bowls, not QB’s.
Usually. Yes.

But the 2001 SB was different. It was Tom Brady. All Brady.

And the refs, who let the Patriots’ defense be physical against the soft Rams.

Strange to make both these statements in the same post

Bullsht… Brady threw one TD in the entire postseason in 2001.

They don’t win without drafting Richard Seymour, they don’t win without Adam V, they don’t win without Troy Brown, they don’t win without Ty Law… there were numerous other players crucial to that season.

The margins of victory were tiny and Brady was still learning and being held by the hand by Charlie Weis. Brady was a large part of that season, hardly the only reason they won.

Good grief… the revisionist history and hero worship here is ridiculous.

I normally agree with you, but I can’t on this one. While Tom was extremely important in stabilizing the team, he was overwhelmed when they did play the better teams that season as they weren't built for shootouts. Tom had a losing record against teams .500 and above.

Had the weather been clear skies in the divisional round, Oakland probably would’ve been too much for them. Even Ernie Adam’s admitted he thought a miracle happened when it snowed giving them a chance now. And as you said in your previous post, had the refs not allowed the Pats defense to get rough with the Rams, they would’ve been too much for Pats defense. In fact, Adam’s also admitted he wanted the Pats to drive for the win because he felt Rams figured them out and the defense was drained.

That first season Tom needed the game to go by the script of play good defense, run the ball to drain the clock and do enough on offense to win the game.

One offense in 2001 scored 503 points on the season, the next closest team scored 90 fewer points. The Patriot’s D held the Ram’s “greatest show on turf” offense to 17 points and forced three turnovers.

Adam V kicked multiple improbably long kicks including some in the driving snow, Troy returned a magical punt and Bledsoe came into the game to save the day… but it was all Brady.

You can really tell the people here who have never played a team sport or understand how it works.

You couldn’t be more wrong. The Rams Super Bowl was won because of their defense. Brady’s performance was clutch, but in no way dominant.

I'm on both sides of the fence on your take. 2nd year Brady vs the finished product. It's history now but a great footprint for out team this year. I would be extremely happy if our defense was really good, mistake free and angry and Drake has a meh year with the offense. I am so there on team building and finding leaders.

I wasn’t suggesting Brady didn’t play well, I was challenging State’s claim that it was all Brady.
