Player Signing Patriots Showing Serious Interest in JuJu Smith-Schuster (Update: Done)

I've read about half the pages in this thread and I am sadly NOT surprised by the fact the mob is shocked and disappointed by this signing even though they have NO idea how this contract plays out. Jacobi's deal is essentially a series of one year deals that the Raider can walk away from at any time. I have no idea how the Pats structured this deal, and neither do any of you.

As to the player and the comparison of the 2 guys, I'm on the side that its a upgrade. Its an upgrade on the YAC. It's an upgrade in getting separation. It's an upgrade on the quickness and explosiveness. THAT'S what I see with my eyeballs when I think of Juju SS.

But that being said, its not like we signed a monster impact WR. There WERE no #1 needle pushing WR's to be had in in this years FA. And we got on of the better one's available. So its a win for me. If you think Jacobi is better, you are entitled I guess because you are all smarter than the rest of us.

As for Dhop, that's a hard pass. He's essentially a much older and more often injured version of Juju or Meyers....AND more expensive. I'm very intrigued about a possible Jeudy trade after BSG filled me in on him. I doubt the Broncos even try to move him with Payton in town. He needs all the receiver help he can get.

So in the end I think we are going to have to see if we can pick up a diamond in the rough in the 4th round because the first 3 picks are going to going to other positions .....IMHO
All I've got to say is JuJu was drafted by Pittsburgh who seem to know a thing or two about drafting wide receivers. I'm sold with this pick up.

I like the signing….

Remember the game in Pittsburgh….2017ish where he basically almost took it to the house before we prevailed on a Duron Harmon interception-touchback in the EZ? That game shouldn’t have been that close.

Tedy Bruschi said it best: "this better be just the beginning- their needs to be a Hopkins or Jeudy coming as well. Because none of the cbs in the afc are scared by this move. C'mon Bill, let's go!"
I'm paraphrasing Bru-this is not his exact quote, but you get the gist. I concur 100%.
Juju became a necessity once Jakobi left. I'm not sure he's much better than Jakobi- I see it as a wash. Yes, the Pats still need a #1.

I would feel less angry about this soul-less, ungrateful & disloyal switcheroo If Billy also signs a young, fast Outside WR like Darius Slayton, who would've been my #1 reasonably-priced target AFTER I re-signed Meyers.

p.s.: The other JJ, Jerry Jeudy, sounds nice and all too, but... I would trade nothing higher than a 2nd-rounder for him, and ONLY if there's an extension agreement in place. **** that suicidal idiocy of paying top dollar for rentals ********, that's Donny Sweeney's clown car.

It is a performance business. Hard to get ungrateful and disloyal about making $33M. Wish my boss was so disloyal with me. I would probably cry, but somehow I could recover.

I have a hard time seeing Jeudy and Smith-schuster working together because they both play the big slot role. I think Jeudy is really good but doesn’t fit after this signing.

What is wrong with having two slot threats? Add that with Henry at TE and Thornton taking the top off the D…..

I say we got the makings of an offense there…

This seems like treading water after the loss of Meyers. It's pretty much plugging the hole. I'm okay with it, not excited but okay.

Nice bit from Rob Alvarez from 2018 where Belichick seeked JuJu Smith-Schuster out after the game, clearly laying a little groundwork ;)

Schuster was not on the Chiefs in 2018.

Pretty much my take. Slight upgrade but not enough to make the offense even remotely scary which seems to be how you win these days

Mecole Hardman was hurt last year 8 games his First three years he was solid behind Hill and Kelce. I would take a chance if I were them.
Are we looking at the same stats? 26 catches, 40, 59? Third year was OK, but that's not good production for a guy drafted so high.
