PATRIOTS WILDCARD WEEKEND 12/24: BENGALS @ PATRIOTS

I believe that the # 1 AFC seed remains neck and neck until the last regular season game.

Seattle has the best shot at beating KC but they are forecasting single digits temps at Arrowhead next weekend.

Both NE @ Buffalo and KC @ Las Vegas are played in the same time slot.
Oh ok.. I see. I know Buffalo gave themselves some ground by winning at arrowhead week 2. Do you think we'll end up making it in?

Doesn't Buffalo have the head to head over KC? I would have to think McDermott believes his team can win on the road. Depending on how the seeding ends up Buffalo may be content on who they face and sit Allen week 18..

What do you think?

Yeah, the tiebreaker, meaning if KC does not lose another game Buffalo has to beat NE or give up the # 1 AFC seed.

If Zappe is in at QB the Pats have a chance to make it in the playoffs.

I remember those seasons where we had bad defenses, constantly giving up big play after big play.. I remember saying how are we going to fare in the playoffs with this defense. The dysfunctional offense reminds me of those days.. how can this team sustain if they get in.

Watching the dolphins and Bills game where Waddle and hill made play after play. We have no one even close to that caliber . I like Zapp, and love the spark he gave us.. but the team absolutely wasted this season in my opinion.

Zappe is not an upgrade over Mac. If they can make the playoffs with Zappe the same is true with Mac.
Gonna be tough. Even though Miami is on a 3 game skid, they are a problem on offense. We did well against them week 1 but now we have injuries on defense .

Still the Jets are a factor, thier defense is the blue print to how you stiffle offenses. I Still take Mac, hopefully we can surround him with some elite playmaker

This thread will look funny if they lose to the raiders, which could easily happen. Be hilarious if their slow, sluggish lifeless offense lays another egg.

They could still get in if they beat the raiders and then win only 1 of remaining 3. So no, not sudden death playoffs starting 25th.

i see them losing all 3 final games pretty convincingly though.

Today, is a toss up win/loose. Everything is stacked up against them to loose seemingly.

If they do win today I honestly feel they don't win another game this season. Bengals are firing on all cylinders, even though Miami is in a slump they look at us as a get right game, I'm not even going to mention week #18 at Buffalo.

I'm the words of the great BB it is, what it is...

I got hammered for saying this exact thing a few days ago. After beating a crappy team, hope floats, and we start considering playoff scenarios.
The problem is, our offense isn't any sharper, better coached, or creatively designed than it has been all season. We're mediocre, and we won't beat the upper half of the NFL teams. So, we may gut out a win today (and I hope we do), but we just can't compete with the offenses of CIN, MIA, BUF. And it's not because Mac sucks. It's because the OL has been underwhelming, and the scheme/play calls have not maximized the talent on the team nor shown situational experience. Both MP's responsibility.

I would like to say that is probably the post of the year! You couldn't be any more correct on the assessment. The eye test to me is the best barometer with our team.

I kind of took a deeper look, and also see that it's seems as if some players are tapped out mentally. Wynn, brown to name a few. Our defense on any team with a comparable offense would be play-off caliber.

It brings me back to the question of what did we actually accomplish this season? We aren't a terrible team and we aren't a great team. As you stated mediocre! That's a tough place to be in the NFL. The O line just isn't very good this season. We give up pressure to 4 man rushes.

When Mac has had time, the rare times he's had this season. He makes 30 yr completions . I expect there to be some serious changes roster wise this off season..

All we need is the other QBs to all get hurt in the 1st quarter and for the defense and special teams to keep scoring.

maybe but that applies to both QBs

Well that's the thing, if they lose to vegas then it's DEFINITELY playoff season starting 12/24, as the remaining games will all be must wins and will all be against playoff contending teams
