Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

It’s rightly being compared to the trade of Babe Ruth.
Except the Pats didn't trade Brady. They forced him out, got nothing in return and had nobody to replace him. At least the Red Socks got some cash for the Babe.

ReAl PaTrIoTS fans post more in the Tom Brady forum than anybody else. Look at their posting history. They're pretty much the crazy ex girlfriend while Tom is the boyfriend whose moved on lol
I can only speak for myself, but the reason I come here more often is because I can actually say what I believe without reprisals. For now anyway.

This is wrong, the Pats got a 3rd compensatory pick for him.

Except Giselle is the one who makes more money.

Maybe that is why he is playing for half of other elite QBs
The funny thing is that the half-salary that Brady is playing for is 40% higher than what the Pats offered him for one year.

Who did they get for him?

If you assign the highest 2021 compensatory to Brady for that draft you'd get Ronnie Perkins. The same draft they lost their 3rd rounder for video recording the Cleveland Browns.

Rankings are almost unanamous Bill, Chiefs, Bucs, then Chargers/Rams/Vikings/or Ravens.

Sigh, the days of the Pats at the top of these rankings are gone. People started advocating for a shiny new toy at QB when BB refused Brady's request for a multiyear commitment and only offered a year by year contract. Brady even begged Kraft lol, he refused to do anything. I guess Brady wasn't like a son after all as he claimed.

Brady accepted 2019 but decided it would be his last year. Many in the forum was advocating for a new start, some with Stidham over Brady lol. I lurked in the background for many years but joined up to argue these truism "be careful what you wish for", " you shouldn't fix what ain't broke", and "you shouldn't mess with a good thing".

Now their wishes have come to pass and how's it working in year 3 of the rebuild and counting? I bet the coaches wished that they listened to those age old truism instead of arrogantly believing that any mediocre QB can do what Brady does. Or as BB said about JG that going to him from Brady is seamless and JG can make all the throws. Yeah right.

That started with JG in 2014.

Genius thread here. Had to get it from the archive cause it was banished to the old Practice Squad and rightfully so. yikes

This team is a 7 time Super Bowl champ right now if Brady stays. No doubt at all about that. They are contending this year too. BB could simply leave the offense to TB12 and focus on what he's always done best on the defensive side of the ball.

If BB gave the multiyear deal Brady asked for or Kraft had cajones they would have Brady at:
- a huge discount
- they would have field general Brady on the field making Judge and Patricia look good
- they would have Brady recruiting players and promoting the Patriot Way. No locker room issues which may be happening now.
- But most of all for BB, he very likely would become the all time win leader. As it is, it is a remote possibility.

It is amazing to look back and realize the colossal mistake they made letting him walk.

Double yikes.

I was thinking the same thing. McDaniels leaving was a huge loss. If Brady was back there, the loss would be negligible as long as Judge and Patricia gave him alot of leeway.

The thing is, I always wondered which of the coaches advocated the most the idea that any mediocre QB can have as much success in the Patriot system as Brady. I always suspected Judge, maybe McDaniels, maybe BB, but not Patricia as he really put himself out for Brady during deflategate.

Yep and it was very likely Judge. The arrogance too which he probably learned from BB.

After he failed in NY and seeing his offense struggle now he won't have much to say about that these days.

And that for me is one of a few arguments against saying BB is the GOAT coach. Less wins than Shula. Also Bill trails Coach Madden in all time regular season winning percentage as a coach so he is not the greatest in that area either. Bill's coaching tree is another one. It's a mixed bag to be generous. Shula's coaching tree is way better. So is Reid's. So is Holmgren's. So is Tuna's. Jon Gruden's coaching tree has McVay and Shanahan and I think Tomlin is part of that group too... so even he has a better coaching tree than Bill. Lol

Belichick following the 2017 season when Jimmy G had already been traded and he made the inexcusable decision to bench Butler should have been told that Brady gets his deal and if he doesn’t like it then he can leave and Bill O Brien gets poached from Houston or Josh McDaniels gets promoted.

I mean holy s.hit. Imagine being told in 2014 “Tom, why should you at 37 years old be trusted to keep playing at an elite level going forward? You’re gonna have to prove it to me.” And then going out and winning 2 of the next 3 Super Bowls which definitively proved it, only to then not only NOT get paid but Bill is still insistent on going with your replacement going forward? If I was Brady I would have demanded a trade immediately in 2017 because I legitimately can’t think of a worse slap in the face.

Beginning to get the feeling that the Patriots may have lost that “trade.”
