With today's inflation that particular vice is way outside my price range.Mistress Cruella Spikeheels

I’ll get you a deal. With today's inflation that particular vice is way outside my price range.
Please don't ever go away (again)!I love when this place gets hyper-Meta! I come here for conversations about conversations about posters about posters about conversations, after all. It's such a relief to see this all aired out publicly including by mods(!) and have such little football talk!
I'm lovin' it. So glad I came back!!!
Not really, if you just pretend the departure refers to the thread itselfThis thread has certainly digressed from the original title.
I came in posting in 2010 (reading long before that) and tried to carry the mantle. Even I mellowed out over the last 12 years. Then again 12 years straight of this place could take the energy out of a supernova. The board from 2006-2010 had some of the most prestigious verbal abusers around. It’s timid today compared to how it used to be.
I remember at least part of those early days with NEM and others (I lurked for a while before joining early in 2007) and agree completely that there aren't the same type of flame wars. That said, I have to say that don't miss those "flame war" days (I had my fill of what-seemed-to-me to be childish name calling long, long ago). I REALLY started to enjoy and become much more active in this forum once things got a bit more civil (somewhat) and it became more about analysis by smart observers of football than name calling, I think that is a credit to Ian, I don't think we appreciate or thank him enough. This same stuff has been going on since the invention of the public area in the internet. The defenders of the faith (regardless of which faith) insist that the location is going downhill because of the negativity, regardless of how much negativity is, or is not, there. In reality, this site has far fewer aggressive back-and-forths than it used to, has had the allowed language carved way back, and is all but devoid (comparatively speaking) of the real flame wars that used to happen here. And that's been the trend all across the internet, as moderation has increased and become increasingly heavy-handed.
I mean, Nem alone would give more than 90% of the homer posters around here nowadays a life threatening case of the vapors, and that's without anyone agreeing with him, or going back at him, in the manner we used to around here. Like it or not, that's just how it's become.

By the way, although I was frequently in disagreement, you were one of those insightful posters about football I enjoyed reading back when you would post analysis much more frequently. I got a little bummed out just like you did for a bit when TB left (nothing against Cam, but by the time he got here he was a shadow of himself) but now I'm shoveling coal into the locomotive pulling the Mac Jones 2022 Patriot train.
NEM was....unique.We
Those were the days.
Loved seeing the Weis hate and I remember the numerous hopes for a real pass rusher .
So much fun.
Who do you think he was harder on? Weis or McDaniels? I was only reading during the Weis days but, my god, did NEM hate his guts.NEM was....unique.
Not sure who he despised more but Jesus he had a hard on for Weis.Who do you think he was harder on? Weis or McDaniels? I was only reading during the Weis days but, my god, did NEM hate his guts.
He had a much bigger hard on for Weis, no doubt. It was sort of a romantic hate.Who do you think he was harder on? Weis or McDaniels? I was only reading during the Weis days but, my god, did NEM hate his guts.

It was actually Ernie Zampese who I think he most hated, but the degrees of said animus were not that wide.Who do you think he was harder on? Weis or McDaniels? I was only reading during the Weis days but, my god, did NEM hate his guts.
