I think Parker is a/the clear WR1, his issue in the past hasn't been talent, it has been durability. The Pats don't have any great WRs just a lot of very good ones...so yeah, if Thornton impresses, he can move up to #1.
Yet, Evan Lazar / Patriot.Com had an almost pornographic description of Thornton:
1. Powerful Play of the Game presented by Enel: WR Tyquan Thornton's 2-Yard Touchdown
Before we get too ahead of ourselves with the second-rounder, let's keep preseason football in context. Still, Thornton is a dynamic route-runner, and he flashed the tools we see daily in practice on Thursday night. His quickness at the line, deceptiveness at the top of the route, and explosiveness through the break are legit on top of his speed.
On his two-yard touchdown reception from Brian Hoyer, Thornton uses a stutter move to gain an inside release at the line. Then, he bursts upfield to get the corner on his back, uses a subtle head-jab fake to sell an inside break, and works through contact to cut outside for six. The little subtleties in his release package and route breaks excite you -- he is more than just a burner.
Great to read this.

One thing caught my eye:
The newest addition of the group is Lil'Jordan Humphrey, who has come on in recent practices with multiple catches, and those performances carried over into the game. Humphrey's impressive size might make him look more like a tight end than receiver, but it gives the former Saint a unique trait within the group.
His fourth-quarter touchdown was a notable demonstration of what he's capable of. With the Giants coming on a blitz, quarterback Bailey Zappe stared down the pressure and lobbed a quick pass up to Humphrey who managed to use his size and length to secure the catch and score.
BB loves him some "WR with size" kind of players. It is what "he who shall not be named but now plays for Chicago and is on IR" was supposed to be for this team.
Should make for some interesting decisions on cut-down day.
One thing for sure is someone's binkie is gonna get cut.
