My quick observations:
1) I think Patricia calling the offense while Hoyer in there means he's going to be the primary playcaller week 1. It makes sense that Judge, as the QB coach, took over once the developmental QB got in the game.
2) The game had the usual amount of first-game sloppiness. Lot of holding calls, missed tackles, etc. Nothing to be concerned over, this is the first time these teams are really tackling in 6 months.
3) Thornton looks the part so far. Mac hopefully leads him a little further on that first throw, but you can see the sudden speed he has, and it was nice to see him muscle that frame through the back of the end zone for the TD.
4) Wilson and Jennings looked disruptive and fast. Uche had flashes but might still be only a 3rd down specialist if he can't get some run contain stuff straightened out. I thought McMillan looked pretty fast too, but only noticed him a few times (will have to look at the snap counts to see if he only played a few).
5) Herron had a rough day. False starts and then an injury. Hopefully Cajuste is okay, as he's the better option at backup T right now.
6) Bailey Zappe is an agent of PURE F'ING CHAOS. Dude was chucking it, for better or worse. Kid seemed to have some fun, but there's a lot of refinement that needs to happen before I'm ready to say he's ahead of Hoyer on the depth chart for 2022.
7) As nice as the deep catches by Nixon looked (good body control, awareness, athleticism), the ones I really WANT him to make are those 4 yard outs to convert on 3rd and short, which he dropped. Hopefully he can shore that up, because he's clearly got the goods to thrive athletically in the slot, but you have to know he's going to make that catch.
8) I don't see anyone legitimately arguing otherwise, but I was fine with them letting the Giants run the clock down at the end. They had just lost three OL in one quarter basically. No need to send the offense back on the field for any more. Plus they left on a high note on that side of the ball, so let them build off of that.
