What do you think Miami was doing? Why suddenly did Brady make unBrady like comments like “I’m just an employee” or “I’m the most miserable 8-0 qb”.
Miami was recruiting Brady for
future employment, they weren't interested in distracting Brady so he would flake out on the 2019 season. Ross wanted Flores to tank Miami's season so obviously New England's win/loss record was of no importance to him.
Brady clearly resented not being offered a better contract from New England, and especially when he knew 2019 would be his last, comments like "I'm just an employee" are not surprising. That comment also tells us nothing about Brady's commitment to his on field performance. The comment about being miserable was related to his dissatisfaction with the overall performance of the offense to that point in the season, he wasn't saying he was miserable because he was still wearing a Patriots uniform.
The fact remains the 2019 team cratered exactly as Brady played the worst football of his career.
By the end of the 2019 season the "top ranked" defense had been exposed as fraudulent and the offense's number two receiver was Phillip Dorsett who finished the season with a paltry 29 receptions... the
team was playing bad football (just like the end of the 2020 and 2021 seasons).
Yes I was talking to you because you said it didn’t bother you because it didn’t affect the team, and obviously it affected the team.
No one other than Brady knew about
his conversations with Miami. Not an issue for the team. Not an issue for Brady either. If you're looking for an excuse for why Brady's performance wasn't great then consider his injuries and the lame supporting cast.
You said the Patriots made a mistake by not extending Brady. Why? What do you think would have happened the last 2 years if he had stayed and where do you think they would be this year?
Not muddying the waters with cap talk, let's assume the team found a way to sign Brady and bring back the exact rosters of 2020 and 2021, they would have won the division both seasons. I've gone through it game by game before and Brady would have been worth multiple additional wins each season. I'd have a lot more confidence in the 2022 offense with Brady because they'd be running the same scheme and a goof like Patricia probably would not be calling plays.
What would they have done in 2020 if he stayed and they had less money and couldn’t even retain their own free agents much less improve upon the team that crawled to the end of 2019? What would 2020 have looked like with 12 mill in cap space for free agents instead of 62?
Do you think they would be closer to winning a championship today if he had stayed? Seriously? And how?
Yes I do think they would have been closer to a championship with Brady, obviously, he's the greatest player in the history of league still playing exceptional football. There are a 1000 different scenarios for maneuvering your roster and creating cap space so it's a massive can of worms not worth opening... it wouldn't lead to a consensus.
I wouldn't put it past the NFL to get back at Brady this year even if they couldn't punish him directly. I can see refs throwing random flags against the Bucs at key moments...
Is this a serious statement? Or just your own personal fantasy?
