Anyone who thinks that Brady was going to be a Patriot after the 2019 season isn't using his common sense.

Brady knew he was coming to the last few seasons of his career.

Brady has ALL the money he needs, so money was never the real object for him, and it never has been.

Fact: The Pats who had gone all in from 2016 to 2019 (an had 3 superbowl appearances to show for it) was going into cap hell and the need for a positional rebuild. They were NOT going to be a championship contender for the next few seasons.

So why would Brady want to stay hear and use his remaining time during a rebuild, when he would be free to go to teams with more talent and a better chance to excel. He'd be nuts to want to. SF, Tampa, and to a lesser degree Miami all fit the bill better than the Pats.....and he left.

I was glad for him when he went to Tampa. They had the best set of skill players available and THEN added Gronk and Brown. Brady was where he needed to be and if you were a TRUE fan of him over the previous 20 odd years, you should have been happy FOR him.

Bottom line, his leaving was a lot less about any friction with Bill, or lack of money or "security" from the Pats, than it was for this uber-competitive player to compete for championships. Again, COMMON SENSE. The rest was dueling narratives
I’m glad they went all in from 2014-2018 and won 3 SBs even though it resulted in Brady leaving
I’d be much less happy if they didn’t go all in to win SBs and Brady stayed an extra 3 years but we won no SBs.

Not sure how anyone would trade 2014-2018 for the last 3 years of Brady’s career.

They should suspend Brady’s punk ass too

Honestly not sure how you arrived at that conclusion if you've been paying attention lol.
Quite the contrary he is the one who has been paying attention rather than listening to griping and whining.

Easy to reduce this thread to 4 pages of thoughtful conversation with a half dozen ignores.
I only have a few posters on ignore. They happen to be responsible for 90% of the garbage posts on here though.

Explain why Brady wanted to go to Miami in 2019 then if it was all about winning lol.

by better offers, you mean something that is relatively close to market value
The market value for a 42 year old QB wasn't exactly clear.

The track record of Tom accepting one year deals on less than market value was clear.

Tom put himself onto an exit strategy by negotiating the voidable years and the no franchise tag clause.

Glad it worked out well for him.

One way to look at it. But if you were Tom, the most decorated player in history, and the team would only keep going one year at a time with incentive deals, while other vets like Brees was getting multi year deals with higher guarantees, would you be happy?
I don't blame Tom for wanting more, and I don't blame BB for not offering more.

Its hilarious, I was waiting for RIng 6 to post the Howe article too...Somebody did it for him at least
Speculation is not fact. Fact is that it was reported as 2 years 53 mill.
Fact is Brady wouldn’t sign that and instead asked for voidable years and a guarantee he won’t be franchised.
Speculation (and bad speculation at that) is that the deal Brady agrees to means “the original deal offered probably wasn’t as sweet as it seems”.

Tom put himself onto a collision course.

Glad it worked out well for him.

Was Drew Brees in Bradys Market? Let alone the fact that Brady was better at every stage of their negotiation?

Did he go to Miami? I missed that.

Fact is there are no reports that show 2/50 fully guaranteed. Which you said happened. You take the report as fact, but not the actual analysis in the actual report from the reporter? hhaha, who is also the one who reported that Brady wanted Multi year deals after 17 and 18 but was turned down? So odd that your story doesnt come close to lining up

So him continuously asking to be inked long term no longer matters? Just because hes done it in the past doesnt mean thats what he deserved or would continue taking. Brees was his market, he wanted that. Patriots didnt

Who are you or anyone else to say Brady has ALL the money he needs. Take a look around. The ultra wealthy keep trying to make more. Is Brady any different from 99% of the other athletes in pro sports? Lets look at other top players in sports

Lionel Messi - $41m per year
Lebron James - $38m per year
Aaron Rodgers - $50m per year
Mike Trout - $37m per year

I assume all of these guys have ALL the money they need, but still have large contracts. Brady wanted a multi-year commitment from the Pats in 2017 and again in 2018. If he couldn't get it then there was no chance BB was gonna change his mind as Brady got older. Brady saw the writing on the wall and knew to get a multi year commitment it would have to be elsewhere. That's on Kraft and BB.

And they did present offers that Tom could have chose to accept, but he chose otherwise.

Both sides had their reasons.
And there it is. I don’t know why we’re discussing the reasons Brady left. It’s been beaten to death for 2 years now. The topic in this thread is Brady’s involvement in Miami’s tampering penalties. Brady signed a deal making him a FA after the 2019 season. Miami initiated contact w/Brady at the start of the 2019 season. Brady could’ve said I won’t discuss this until after the season but it sounds like he did anything but that.

My view is this...

Tom was looking to shoot his way out of town before the 2019 season in a very below-board way.

He clearly did not want to be here, was disillusioned with the NEP and cut corners in preparing for the season.

Did he give 100% during games? Who knows. At about the midpoint of the season AB exploded, JE and Sanu were hurt, the line was in shambles and D was starting to falter. At that point, it's reasonable to speculate Tom was truly checked out and going through the motions. If that is the case, I firmly believe Bill knew it and had no interest in retaining him.
very diplomatically stated. It sure seemed to me that he was checked out at least for the second half of 2019. [But I still love all he did for us!!!!]

I mean honestly, you'd really have to have your head in the sand to think Brady only left for winning. Why do you think he told Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth he was the unhappiest 8-0 quarterback in the league lol?

Stop doing the clown show routine. BB in 2017 and 2018 had the 2nd year voidable deals. You really think in 2019 with Brady another year older BB was all of a sudden offering the 2nd year as guaranteed? You really can't be that gullible. The Pats leaked to 2 year deal to Howe to save face, but gave no context to that deal.

Do we know for a fact MIA initiated the discussions? We know Ross and Beal were running point for the Lolphins.

In the end it doesn't matter but it would show Tom's level of conviction and urgency to get out of Dodge
