I thought you said it should only be team
Patriots??

Most of us here are loyal to the Pats, but there are some (a small but loud minority of posters) who are loyal to Tommy only. In their view Tommy can do no wrong. If he thought about playing with the Dolphins and checked out in 2019, it's Bill's fault...

Not most. The poster I was referring to agreed there should be patriots fans not “team bill” or “team Brady” then said we didn’t start it they did.

Colluding with the ‘Phins is one thing; it’s slimy, shady, and certainly an ethical grey-area; as a fan, it sucks, but I can understand as an individual potentially doing similar if it might make me and/or my family happier; it’s not like the guy killed puppies as a result of those conversations with Miami.

What sincerely pisses me off, though, and is much more damning than the above element (in my opinion, at least), is the fact that this is ironclad proof Brady was checked out during his final season with the Pats and that’s absolute horsesh*t; that’s the antithesis of everything Brady represented throughout the majority of his career. It’s unfair to himself, his teammates, his coaches, and especially those young WRs who could’ve really benefitted from an engaged and involved Tom Brady, a treasure trove of football experience and knowledge. Instead he was pulling strings to get himself out of New England while there was still 1 month (4 weeks) of training camp remaining, and 16+ games upcoming. That’s very not cool.

And the thing is, none of this was necessary. It’s not like Tom Brady is a taken advantage of, lowly employee who never would’ve been able to get himself to a better situation without the tampering. He’s Tom f*cking Brady; he absolutely 100% would’ve had suitors and landing spots had he followed protocol and used the designated legal tampering period to have these conversations. Bizarro (and just plain sh*tty) that he instead began those negotiations while his current team (who had 3 rookie WRs at the time) was ramping up their off-season program and had a 4+ month season upcoming.

I’ll be genuinely curious what (if any) effect this has on the post-career celebrations/pleasantries/festivities in New England that we all assumed were a 100% guarantee to happen after Brady (actually) retires. If I had to guess, I still expect all of that ends up happening, but the conclusions in the NFL’s report are pretty damning, so I could see this potentially having a legitimate impact on Kraft’s outlook and perspective regarding his relationship with Brady.
My view is this...

Tom was looking to shoot his way out of town before the 2019 season in a very below-board way.

He clearly did not want to be here, was disillusioned with the NEP and cut corners in preparing for the season.

Did he give 100% during games? Who knows. At about the midpoint of the season AB exploded, JE and Sanu were hurt, the line was in shambles and D was starting to falter. At that point, it's reasonable to speculate Tom was truly checked out and going through the motions. If that is the case, I firmly believe Bill knew it and had no interest in retaining him.

Beal is best friends with Brady and Ross is the biggest Michigan booster lol not enemies in his eyes. I'm not happy he talked to the Dolphins, but if I were in that position I would be taking calls knowing I was going to be a FA.
The calls began in August of 2019.

Brady was talking with Miami in Patriots training camp. Thats F up right there.

Ultimately, what Tom did was sleezy but, costing the dolphins draft picks is also very funny. So...

It should have much worse than that. Ross should have had to sell the team, and at a minimum the Patriots should have gotten the picks. Brady should also get a suspension, if for no other reason than keeping other players from pulling the same sh.t.

Everyone knows what Parcells did on his way out.

He tarnished his reputation in NE forever. While I can give him credit for all the good that he did with the Pats, I cannot and will never excuse his sneaky underhanded actions that led him to tamper with the New York Jets as the Patriots were about to play in their first Super Bowl since the 1985 massacre.

It is crystal clear that Parcells purposely picked the NY Jets to screw Bob Kraft and the Patriots.

Brady is no different. Brady pulled a Parcells. He had no qualms about not only being the QB of a division rival, but also a Miami Dolphins minority owner. Brady wanted to screw Belichick and if the New England region was connected to BB so be it. I am pro Brady exit for leaving because BB the GM drained the Pats WR and TE well dry of any talent. When he did finally spend a good draft pick at WR he found Harry. I can fully understand why Brady was fed up with Belichick and his GM moves on offense and wanted out.

So, its fine to leave a team. Just wait until the FA period begins like everyone else. There would have been plenty of time to move and become acclimated to the new team.

I hate to say it, but Parcells still is a pariah in many parts of this region for talking to the Jets one week before the Super Bowl. This has to tarnish Brady's image h
How many rings did Parcells bring us? How often did Brady publicly discuss his dirty laundry like Parcells did? They aren’t the same, totally different contexts and class. this is sort of silly.

The Dolphins ruined the Pats season in 2019.

Its fun to try and track all the dominos falling and see possible relationships.

Somebody at the end of 2019 posted that the average time of possession for Pats' drives in the last half of that year dropped by a huge number, and the field position the D was asked to defend shrank correspondingly, and that this was the reason the D wilted (less time to rest, more possessions by the opposition, and a shorter field on average). Anybody remember that post or reference? I don't recall if it was an observation or statistically validated.

But if the QB was in any way not as focused and energized, was the above patter a cause, or an outcome, or some of both? We'll never know. Just interesting stuff.

Those are all facts about Brady….bro. A grown man admitted that he wanted to be Tom Brady, because in his mind Tommy is perfect and his life is perfect. I was simply pointing out facts that refute that. The larger point is that idolizing and worshipping any celebrity or athlete to that degree is just sad.

“Practice what you preach” makes no sense in the context of my post.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree in regards to Fandom. I say let people idolize/worship whatever or whoever they want everybody is different.

Brady was making deals with the Dolphins in Pats 2019 training camp.

He could not even wait until the season began.

Not only that, the conversations he had with Miami were numerous and lengthy, according to the findings of fact. So this was not a situation where Miami contacted Brady and Brady told them that he wasn't interested at this time. These were serious discussions.

Yes it is.

Parcells is a rat and vilified, but Brady is still the home town hero. Im just glad that Boston still has legends like Orr, Bird, Russell, Williams who would never pull this crap.

Towards the end Brady was very public with how he was being treated as a player and contractually.

I don't think Tom was motivated but I also think he didn't have a lot to work with those last 8 or 9 games
