The more I think about this, the more I think that this chit goes on waaaaaay more than the NFL, and everyone else, is letting on. While I am a little disappointed that this is kind of a chitbag move by Brady, this is the NFL. The NFL is probably the most corrupt, rule bending/breaking sports league there is. We know these guys are signing multi million dollar deals minute one of the tampering period, and that kind of chit takes a long time and a lot of lawyers to get done. No way they do it when the starter's gun fires. No way. So the dolphins wanted him to play and offered him a partnership. Meh. If you're Brady, you have to listen, right? It's boat loads of money. Even if you send "your people", you have to turn over a couple stones to see how much money and control we are talking about.

It doesn't change the fact that 1) he won more than anyone else before, 2) he did it in a pats uni, and 3) he's not a lot different from any other pro athlete, as much as we want to pretend he is one of us. He is not one of us.

Many of us have idolized the guy. Many here have made him into Captain America. I have been accused by friends of having a man-crush on Brady. I said no, I want to be Tom Brady. And who wouldn't ? Multi gazillionaire, winner, supermodel wife. While he might not be the mercenary that a guy like Revis is, or a eff you pay me guy like Asante, he's not a lot different than the rest. He's 100% not like the rest of us who root for the laundry.

This type of crap just picks at the scab of what a chitty divorce this was. We are lucky it lasted as long as it did.

Those of you who say this is a distraction for the Watson thing are right on the money.
It's worse. It's a distraction for the tanking thing. Just look at this thread. It's all about Brady instead of the pos Ross, who should be voted out of the league by the owners. NFL knew exactly what they were doing. The mere mention of Brady drives up the clicks in any news story. Ross is skating on this one and nobody is noticing.

Flores was 100% correct about that scumbag. Funny how @Ring 6 called him a disgruntled employee that couldn't prove anything he claimed. Wrong again Capt. Clueless.

Universally Brady is raved about by his coaches and teammates. If a bad word has been spoken then I want to see it. Brady gave a 1000% to every team he's ever played for... including that garbage in 2019.

You don’t talk to your enemy…period.

Beat me to it. I think Yee could be in some trouble. I have no clue how Goodell and the NYJFL view agents & Don Yee in particular.
Probably the same way they view the 3rd party vendors that sell food at the stadiums: not employees.

When the Dolphins tampered with Baltimore Colt coach Don Shula 1970, they had to give the Colts, their 1st round pick for tampering.

Shouldn’t that be a precedent for us getting The Dolphins picks ???

I keep trying to muster up some outrage over this. Can't do it. Loyalty? Pfft, the NFL is a mercenary business and the teams have no place lecturing any players on loyalty.

BB (who is my all time favorite sports person) did not want Brady back long term. Brady wanted long term. Why shouldn. 't he? Loyalty to you, the autograph seeker? Grow up. He was preparing for his post-Patriot career and to win more Super Bowls. Again, why shouldn't he? I suppose he broke some ethical line when he kept communication with two people he may have had an outside relationship with anyway. I'm sure in everyone's NFL utopia no other players ever do this. Just the evil Tom Brady.
minus
Waaaah, he didn't thank me when he retired.

Waaaah, he cupped my balls but didn't tickle my taint.

He did pretty well in the 20 years he was on the team that I am a fan of. I went to Foxboro many times to cheer him on. Never bought or wore his jersey because wearing a shirt with another guy's name on it is a bit too flamboyant for me. Overall, I would say I had the most enjoyable run as a fan during the Tom Brady years.

I think Tom Brady and I are even. The fact that he looked elsewhere when he felt unwanted is something anyone would do.

LOLoyalty.

That's one (cynical) way of looking at it. The part that gets me is the last line where you say, "The fact that he looked elsewhere when he felt unwanted is something anyone would do." I think you mean "anyone without a strong moral compass." He was under contract, he had a commitment. It's like being married and sneaking out because, well, you feel unwanted so that should make it OK. It's not as much a question of loyalty in Brady's case as one of professionalism and class.

Beal is best friends with Brady and Ross is the biggest Michigan booster lol not enemies in his eyes. I'm not happy he talked to the Dolphins, but if I were in that position I would be taking calls knowing I was going to be a FA.

Yup this thread over 300 plus posts just today the Watson thread 100 something

IMO that's like saying it doesn't matter if you step out with a married person because they're married but you're single.
It really doesn't matter.
Krafty Bob just dodged a bullet after the whole Orchids of Asia thing.

He knows he's compromised and making a move like that would go nowhere.

If anything it'd just ensure future crappy treatment of him and his team.
So he's been neutered and a coward?

Know what’s interesting? Look at ESPN. NBC Sports. Fox Sports. National Twitter Trends. Real mainstream news outlets. This story is a tiny sub headline if even at all. It’s nothing. No one cares.

The absolute craziness absolutely everywhere you looked over Patriots punishments was always about punishing the Pats and specifically Belichick. No one cares if it’s not about him even if Brady is involved.
Only because the tanking isn't the lead story. This was done on purpose. Only morons care about tampering.

being invited to the owners house to discuss his future on the team belies that statement.

Instead, Brady spent all of 2019 talking to the ownership group of the Miami Dolphins.

And you want me to think, despite his double dealing, he was above board with the Patriots?
I'm not saying what he wound up doing by responding and engaging to Miami's tampering was above board but I think he was pushed into a corner and he was looking to control his destiny. He wasn't wanted and hadn't been for quite a while by BB. Kraft saved him for a while but BB had given up on him and Kraft I think saw the handwriting on the wall and had to accept that he was gone. By that time Brady had succumbed to BB rejection, his Garoppolo threat and the let down in SB 42. I think BB and TB both quit on each other. First by BB, then by TB

Brady already controlled his destiny. His reworked deal in 2018 granted a no tag clause. Brady had his out, no matter what. He could choose his own future and there was nothing the Patriots could do to stop him.

He literally chose to listen to Bruce Beal and the overtures on multiple occasions over the entire 2019 season.

So after all this, don't insult my intelligence by telling me BB quit on Brady.

Patriots record from December per season:

2019: 2-4
2020: 2-3
2021: 2-4

Only constant is Bill Belichick. Old man has lost his touch.
So you are saying they were no better with Brady than without him? I think you proved the oppo of what you were trying to

Oh, come on, "strong moral compass". I think it's closer to a "strong seeking justice compass". You fk me, I'll fk you. So, yeah there's no legal contractual "we'll trust you, you're still the best" clause in his contract but form Brady's point of view the moral unwritten clause was clear. "I am still the best. You bailed on me so I'm bailing on you." It's not the outcome I wanted but I get it

Time line. When did BB apparently started to look for Brady to go? Be honest

He looks good. Imagine if Brady had signed w/ them, wins a SB and makes Bill call Kraft:

everything you say here is wrong lol

If Belichick was offering Brady a contract, which he did after the 2019 season, then the timeline isnt what you think it is.

So be honest.
