Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Last year's draft was great, it just took 10 years of bad drafts to get that

Patriots fan, huh? No wonder you signed and joined the Pewter Report forum...

Chandler Jones, Hightower, Ebner, Collins, Ryan, Harmon, White, Fleming, Mason, Flowers, Thuney, Wise, Michel, and Harris were all drafted between 2012 and 2019.

Uh, Jones and Hightower were both drafted in 2012. The point is the drafts have been poor since then with the exception of last year. Ebner? Seriously? And with the exception of Thundy and Mason your other examples are very good, but not great players.

You don't understand how a draft works, do you? You are not drafting hall of famers every year. You are drafting guys who will contribute to the team in a meaningful way. All of the players i identified did just that. And they helped win 3 super bowls. BTW, Joe Thuney was an NFL 2nd team all pro in 2019, a 2X super bowl champion, and part of the NE Patriots all decade team. But he's just "very good."

I give him 3 more years til we can fairly judge BB without TB. I expect a AFCCG appearance within these 3 years.
So 5 years from post Brady to just make an AFCCG? Would be nice if all coaches got that much leeway.

The problem is BB really just got lucky. He got the 5th of the top 5 QBs. If say the 49ers decide to stay with picking Jones...

Beyond that he got Barmore, a RB, and then nothing.

The other issue is that the Patriots went 1-4(only win against Jaguars too:oops:) to close out the season, including one of the most embarrassing losses in NFL playoff history to Buffalo.

Considering all the money the spent, and upgrading to an actual functional QB, gaining 2.5 wins isn't that impressive.

Well that's because I have come to terms what the Pats did in the BB-TB era will never be duplicated.

It's easier to make the AFCCG with a HOF QB

We don't know what Mac will become

How many impressive wins did Tommy have last year? He beat up on a bunch of bad teams, barely beat playoff-caliber teams, and then went 0-4 against the Rams/Saints.

Plus the AFC is a gauntlet as well

They won the division and did beat the Bills -Patriots-Cowboys-Eagles all playoff teams.

Rams/Saints they seem to not figure them out yet

Yea, and like I said, the Bucs barely beat those teams…

I could easily say they barely lost vs the Rams lol

Either you win or lose that's all that matters

Yeah that was an embarrassing performance

You really think the Pats drafted well between 2012 and 2021?

Colts made it to the AFCCG just 4 years post Manning if you include the Suck for Luck year. And I do because I’m fair.

And don’t pull the “well what happened after that game? They sucked!” I know. They got cursed by deflategate. Not the players fault, its cosmic justice.

Then damn our performance vs the Bils was dreadful by your standards

But I thought BB was a god tier football coach and now he gets 5 years just like whatever bushwhackers were running the colts? The truth is if they get back to the AFCCG, and that's a huge 'if', it's because of the players and because Jones becomes a top 10 QB. It's not because of the 'program' or BB.

Very similar to the Ravens 2009 playoff game

No not really.

2009 Ravens drives vs Patriots in that playoff game
83 yards, TD
17 yards, TD
-1 yard, punt
24 yards, TD
0 yards, FG
10 yards, INT
1 yard, punt
8 yards, punt
18 yards, FG
51 yards, TD
31 yards, punt

Bills drives vs Patriots
70 yards, TD
80 yards, TD
81 yards, TD
89 yards, TD
58 yards, TD
77 yards, TD
39 yards, TD

No team has ever done that before.

Truly and literally a historic night for the defense coached by the guy with the reputation as a defensive genius and especially his son

Nah, I was talking about Brady's perfomance vs the Ravens in that game. It was equally as pitiful as Bill's coaching/preparation for the Bills game.

2 TDs, 3 INTS, 154 yards, 49.1 RTG
