Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The punter was strange unless they really need to extra cash to sign suh and gronk. Pinion didn't have the best season but he was ok. I'm more worried about defense and the fact that by the way they drafted makes me think they believe DB is not an issue. They will get lit up on defense again this season imo.
McCollum, CB may be a steal.
They brought in Ryan and Neal at S.

Yeah I'll admit I have no idea who these college players are and I love the addition of Ryan but they need another DB that can run. The dline is a weakness IMO so if you combine that with shaky coverage it just doesn't look good.

Someone in the Bucs really value drafting punters/ kickers in the mid rounds as there is a pattern. This is the 3rd or 4th punter/kicker drafted by Litch in the middle rounds.

Their DBs are OK. They're counting on not getting a bunch of injuries again I suppose.

They got the most athletic CB in the draft.

6.2" ran a 4.33, had the best 40split and 39" vertical. McCollum doesn't just run, he can fly

I saw he's 6'4" at 200 #s.

Injuries started week one. They didn't have the entire defense together until deep into the season. They still finished 5th in points allowed.

In the regular season Rams game I believe the Bucs had lost 3 out of their main 4 defensive backs to injuries.

Random thought but looking at NO they have a really good roster. I'm not on board the Winston camp, I thought he was garbage last year despite people saying he was 5TDs to 2INTs, but the rest of the roster is very good. They are now trying to add Mathieu at S and I don't think TB will be able to sweep them even this season.

Um yeah….they wouldn’t have helped

Ya they did get hit with injuries and I'm not suggesting they are hot garbage but I would say that they go as the offense goes. Every good team does but it's not a dominant defense like some people were spouting. I would say it reminds me of NE bend and don't break but it's really more teams pick on the LBs and burn Bowles with big plays. It's tough for defenses these days I'll admit that.

Again, even with all the injuries, and the inability to field their starting defense for almost the entire season, they finished 5th in points against. And Bowles doesn't play a Patriots-style defense, so I really don't see where you're going here.

I don't like his style, at all. I don't think it's steady enough and it's not the dumbest thing in the world when you have an all world QB but to me it's too much gambling. The SB run was impressive but it wasn't some defensive mastermind and they don't play as well without the lead. Of course we can find faults with lots of defenses but IMO SMB needs to go and white needs to be contained. Those 2 alone create huge liabilities for teams that can exploit them and tick tack their way down the field. If they don't get turnovers, they have no shot. I don't like that style.

I saw he's 6'4" at 200 #s.
That was Tariq Woolen, 6.4" 205 and ran a 4.28 40. He went 2 picks before McCollum. McCollum is 6.2" 198lbs per the NFL combine

I would have preferred the Bucs used that pick on the punter for Woolen and paired up Woolen and McCollum

This is great -- Bralon Robinson is a sprinter at Alcorn State, has run the 100 in 10.20 seconds, now will get a look as a tryout player at Bucs rookie minicamp in two weeks.

Here’s a 13th undrafted rookie signing for Bucs — Ben Beise is a 6-5, 255-pound tight end from D-3 Wisconsin-River Falls. Caught 38 passes last year, also rushed for four touchdowns … third rookie tight end now on Bucs roster.

Bucs draft Cade Otton: Washington pass catcher is Tampa Bay’s first drafted TE in 5 years

New Bucs tight end Ben Beise went to Wisconsin-River Falls as a 220-pound quarterback, switched to tight end and added 25 pounds for his final year to get to 255.

Bucs usually go to camp with 5-6 tight ends. They’ve added three rookies this weekend and now have five total on roster, with room to still add Rob Gronkowski.

Speaking of former quarterbacks, new Bucs tackle Dylan Cook played as a 290-pound QB at Montana State-Northern before transferring to Montana to become a tackle.

I'm kind of surprised the Bucs didn't add Zyon McCollum's twin brother Tristin. Thought it could have been a cheap knock off of the Pats having the McCourty twins

It's hard to compare and analyze defences now a days because the rule changes has made it hard on the dbs. Probably only about 10 half decent defences in a season. They’re trying to make the game more like college where you have 40 point shoot outs.

Rob Gronkowski: If Julian Edelman signs with the Bucs, I'll come back

Bucs still refuse to address the secondary. It's going to haunt them.
