2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

I'm a weird draftnik that hates mock drafts but you can't not do these. Honestly these are my first few attempts. I won't do another one until the week before the draft. I went down the trade hole but what are you gonna do.

This would make me smile and say "championship" Imo this is a grand slam. Defense is amped up. Mac gets some toys and OL gets a sweet piece. We look like a different team.

Johnson is top 10-15 value in this draft. I love him. Extremely high floor. Think he's a cross between Montez Sweat, Josh Sweat and Jaelan Phillups. We could have two really F'n good edge/rush players if we were lucky enough to grab him. Highly doubt he's there though.

I couldn't pass up Brisker at 55. Just too good and too Patriot-Type. He can do so many things. We'll find a role for really good players. Captain everywhere he went since HS.

Gordon is too good to be true here. He's more likely to go in the 2nd than 55. Insane testing #'s. Size and physicality to play outside but agility and experience to play slot. Physical in run support.

Quay Walker is one of my favorites at LB. UG has three top 100 LBs and he's often forgetting about. He's physical but has some finesse on his game. Can take on blocks with physicality and finesse. Good eyes that stay in backfield. Quick feet. Good athlete that can handle bigger physical TE. Could route recognition and ability to redirect without impeding / worrying about a flag.

Shakir is a slot/z/motion option. YAC threat you can give manipulated touches to. He's not a deep threat but can stretch the field from the slot against zone coverage. Very good feel in general against zone.

I thought Phillips would be a fan favorite here. I know @DaBruinz loves him. He's an elusive slot that blocks his butt off. I know I've posted video of him in this thread and others. UCLA Uses him out of the backfield and in motion as a lead blocker and hes like 180lbs lol. Tough kid. Really crafty route runner that can make a few guys miss. Would be great on option / juke routes in the MOF / shallow underneath.

Badie is a water bug out there that would a White replacement with a little luck. I'd love him here.

McCall could be that 2 gapping fatty everyone wants.

I think Smoke Monday's floor is a ST vet that just makes plays there.

Cade Mays has played all 5 OL positions and played them very well! I'd be shocked if he was there this late but that's par for the course with all these sim's.

Honestly the best mock I’ve seen thus far.

the first trade is hilarious. Is BOB making trades for the cardinals here?

I agree. Hilarious. Trade down 2 spots in the 1st round and get a late mid 2nd. BGC is not good at mocks, should traded to 31st in Round 1 and had 5 extra 2nd round picks. Hahahaha.

those simulators are even worse than madden trades i think sometimes. That's why i do no trade mocks half the times

I don't do mocks but you guys have got me mocked out. I can't look at them anymore.

OMG. This is an absolute home run for the Pats.. The ONLY question I have is why 2 safeties.. With Phillips, DMac, Dugger, Peppers and Bledsoe, is there room for 2 more? Or do you see them replacing someone like Corey Davis and Brandon King?

I think Brisker can play some single high in this league and was too good to pass up. Just love him and Hill.

Almost same with Monday although I think at worst he could be a great ST player at worst.

Both were too good to pass up.

Yea none are realistic though. I almost didn't take Johnson bc I know he won't be there but none are useful. Just an exercise to see what you'd do with who who's on the board.

Agree I was going to ask people stop putting them in here bc there's a thread for that and I hate mocks to begin with lol. Cat clawed out the bag early though. You can't beat the mocks only ignore them long enough.

I’ve been doing them more during downtime instead of doom scrolling. I’ve done quite a few over the past few months. It’s been pretty interesting watching the rise and falls of some players. Ive also noticed that every single damn time I’m up to pick, I can’t help but trade out. I’m not going into it with that in mind, but there is never anyone available in our range that are worth the value that you pass up in the trade. I have the draft go slowly and I look ahead at the board and more often than not find myself trying to maximize 2-5. It’s to the point now that I cannot see the draft unfolding any other way for the Pats. This feels like a PTP class to me. A lot of solid, blue collar, high character team nucleus type guys. So you know what that means! It’s not going to go anything like that and Bill is gonna trade most of the picks moving up or for next year and come away from the draft with 4-5 guys picked and only a few UDFA’s and everyone is going to lose the ****ing minds!

What would you do if this is the case?

I would not seek a trade and prepare to take Penning. A team could offer a trade at an unexpected value that could change that though.

If 10 of those guys are available at #21, it makes sense to trade down 8 spots or so, since at least 2 or 3 of them would still be available, and you pick up another #3 rounder.

@BaconGrundleCandy - Are there any concerns about Booth's lack of experience? I mean 15 games as a starter is sparse. Especially as a CB.

Kyler Gordon and Quay Walker are two of my favourite players in the entire draft class
Me too I think both are top 40-50 guys. Walker's ceiling isn't as high as some others but he's a really good prospect with the lowest or second lowest missed tackle % I believe. Solid in coverage. I think he'll be a good pro.

A little, in the same way it does Stingley. Not ideal but it is what it is. And that's the biggest gap between me and someone working for a team. Medicals have burned me before. Tough to get a handle on that stuff, if there is something there with a prospect.
