Wow! This 2021 redraft has Mac Jones still going as the 5th QB with the Pats taking Davis Mills over him at 15. Jones drops to 19th

Wilson and Lance still 2 and 3? That would be okay if you did not drop a guy who had a MUCH better year than both.

Lance was an incredibly stupid pick from the start. Wilson has been Jets'd, not sure it is 100% his fault.

Just think that if Mac had led the league in passing, he would have dropped to 32 or maybe the second round in this imbecile redraft.

Wilson showed me absolutely nothing. He sucks. The hack reporter looks like he stayed up all night doing blow and decided to double down on his Mac Jones sucks take. He's right. Mac will probably never play in a pro bowl or anything like that...

I hope Mac hangs this **** on his mirror, just like in "American Psycho".

Who's this writer anyway?

Hey look, the guy who hated Mac Jones long before he ever wore a Patriots jersey can't admit he was wrong

I love these media types. Wrong and then doubles down.

WalterFootball is another Mac hater. They graded the Pats picking Mac at 15 as a D lol.

For their offseason needs I was expecting them to double down and say QB is still a need for the Patriots but nice to see they ate a little crow instead.

I love that his preseason reason for predicting Mac to fail was that he wouldn't have the advantages he had at Alabama, but now his reason for Mac doing much better than the other 1st round QB's is that he had the most advantages at New England.

I think a lot of this stems from the "dad bod" photo that Mac foolishly publicized in an attempt to compare himself to Brady.

But the reality is that Mac is pretty athletic: 4.68s 40, 7s 3-cone etc.

I think the rational concern with his going off platform is his durability, not his speed, agility, or accuracy throwing on the run.

Chris Turdgasso is a shythead, eats shyt and is a giant POS...congrats!~ The Toilet Bowl Trifecta!

Mac was pretty durable in his first year. He took a beating in the first part of the season when the offensive line couldn't get its s__t together.

Guy who doubles down on his original opinion when the evidence goes against him -- could he be a PatsFans poster?
Or the majority of the media for Bradys career pre Tampa. Rob Parker, max Kellerman, Pete Prisco etc.

He wanted clicks...he's getting clicks.

Mills has a chance to be good - I'm not dissing him. But is there any reason in the world to think that he will be better than Jones? Their stats were similar, pushing Davis out to 17 games instead of 13. Davis was throwing to Brandon Cooks (1000+ AS ALWAYS) and a pair of RBs, mostly.

Mills might be a steal - because of where he was picked - and I could see a case where the Pats opt to pick someone else in Round 1 and grab Mills in the 3rd, sure.
Also stats can be very deceiving and this why draft kings is so hard, can’t tell you how many times I was killing it in draftkings only to have some QB or WR on a team who was getting crushed put up major numbers in garbage time. It’s not uncommon for a team who gets besten badly to have a qb over 400 for the game, as they try to catchup and also get some soft defenses thrown at it.

Just saying...

Mac Jones got first team reps in training camp and he was prepared to start the season as the #1. Davis Mills didn't get that kind of prep and he was only forced into action when Tyrod Taylor got injured.

Even still if you compare their first 6 NFL starts...

Jones:
245 Y/G
7 TD
6 INT

Mills:
209 Y/G
6 TD
7 INT

Fairly similar with neither getting off to a hot start. The Texans sat Mills when Taylor returned from his injury, which predictably went sideways, so they went back to Mills over the final 5 weeks.

Here's a comparison of their final 5 starts...

Jones:
190 Y/G
6 TD
5 INT

Mills:
252 Y/G
9 TD
2 INT

Big advantage for Mills who was playing with a much worse supporting cast.

Not saying I'm taking Mills over Jones in the 1st round but if given the opportunity to trade up for Micah Parsons and look for Mills or Kyle Trask with my next pick then I'm doing that. I'm probably losing Barmore in this scenario but Parsons would be worth it and Mills looks promising enough.

This is all OK for me since I'd always be concerned for durability for any QB who runs regularly. If you ask me, Mahomes has it down to a science. He's the only one who knows what he's doing. Jackson is going to become Vick, and Josh Allen is going to get clocked badly real soon.

Mahomes seems to know how to preserve himself when he runs.

Maybe, but of course what you've cleverly done is discard the best part of Mac's season in that comparison.

On a full season basis, Mac had a 51.3 QBR vs Mills 35.6. That difference if added to Mac's QBR would have Mac as the 3rd best QB n the league.
Likewise with DVOA: Mac was +6.1%, Mills -8.7%. Gifting that difference to Mac would have Mac as the 4th best QB by DVOA.

Big differences.

So by leaving out Mac's best games (and presumably some of Mills' worst) you create a false equivalence.

BTW you can make a much stronger case that Mills was a better choice than Lawrence, Wilson and Fields, who all shat the bed statistically.

No one knows how these QB's will sort out in the long term, but give Mac credit -- for whatever reason -- for the best rookie QB season -- by far.

Reaching for Mills in the first round would be an excellent reason to fire Belichick
Yep, he could've traded down and acquired a lot more assets before having to use one of them on Mills... No reason whatsoever to take him in the first round, even after knowing what we now know, which is kinda what some thought about him before the draft anyway.
