OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

He announces this past Monday there is no air for the conference championship games. But if he announces this coming Monday it’s two weeks to the Super Bowl and it’s always the second week that people actually count as part of the game. That first week is basically dead air past Monday usually.
It should be announced 2 weeks after the super bowl. There is zero reason to announce now other than to take the spotlight away from these final four teams. This is extremely disappointing from him.

2 weeks after the Super Bowl is leaving the Bucs in the lurch for an entire extra month. No way would he do that because they’d be completely screwed. Coordinators are considering whether to pursue other jobs, players want to know, draft scouting is already happening. This isn’t that complicated.

Please. He can tell the bucs and hold the public announcement. The only one that needs to know is Licht anyways. There is zero rush to do this next week. The league year doesn't begin until March.

Maybe it’s BS Jason La Confora gets a lot of stuff wrong it’s weird.

This looks like an attempt to keep Brady for another year. Might work too.

Possibly but they would be foolish not to resign Godwin anyways. He is a special receiver no matter who his quarterback is.

I don’t think we can afford him or I’d love to see what he would do here and how much better Mac would be with him.

All it took for Allen was Diggs….

This is the same guy who purposely avoided retirement talk and even talked about playing well into the future to avoid any type of “all about me” retirement tour…which is basically unprecedented. He’s the guy you’re talking about here?

Me too. He is perfect for our offense.

Can you think of another all-time great player that announced his retirement during the playoffs?

Oh please. He can retire this week if he pleases and it will dominate the news cycle for a few days and then the focus will be on the game.

They just spend the season getting fellated on their retirement tours.

That's kind of the point though Brady said he didn't want this retirement tour but yet he made sure news of his retirement came out prior to the playoffs and now apparently he's going to actually announce it right before the super bowl. I'm sorry I mean I'm a huge fan of the guy but this is extremely disappointing from him. There is no reason to announce it right now and take away the spotlight from the other four teams. He could have waited until after the super bowl.

It’s from LaCanfora lololol

If there was something to this I really doubt he would scoop this before Schefter or Rap.

Didn't Big Ben retire yesterday?

We just went through the Ben Roethlisberger farewell...
But we knew about him mid- season. And let's face it we're talking about the greatest football player of all time and arguably the greatest team sport player of all time. To announce this now seems to be the antithesis of everything Brady said he wanted to avoid. He could totally hold this news until after the super bowl with zero repercussions but to announce it now will take away from the four teams that deserve the spotlight right now. He knows this.

I was just answering your question:

Beyond the resolution of "Will her, or won't he?", I don't care when Brady's announcement comes.

I was just answering your question:
Sure. I know. But Ben's was a formality because he said he was done midseason.
Brady has just kind of sprung this in the last couple of weeks leading up to the playoffs. That's the part that I find really bothersome. It has become clear that he knew this was his last season and that there really wasn't any period needed for him to think about his family and kids because he was going to retire. So I look at it as hold that until after the super bowl so you don't take away from the playoffs giving you the greatest quarterback to ever play the game and specifically said you didn't want a farewell tour.
