But we knew about him mid- season. And let's face it we're talking about the greatest football player of all time and arguably the greatest team sport player of all time. To announce this now seems to be the antithesis of everything Brady said he wanted to avoid. He could totally hold this news until after the super bowl with zero repercussions but to announce it now will take away from the four teams that deserve the spotlight right now. He knows this.

Sure. I know. But Ben's was a formality because he said he was done midseason.
Brady has just kind of sprung this in the last couple of weeks leading up to the playoffs. That's the part that I find really bothersome. It has become clear that he knew this was his last season and that there really wasn't any period needed for him to think about his family and kids because he was going to retire. So I look at it as hold that until after the super bowl so you don't take away from the playoffs giving you the greatest quarterback to ever play the game and specifically said you didn't want a farewell tour.

You don’t really know much about it though. Maybe it just feels like the right time. Maybe the Bucs locker room fell apart three weeks ago. Maybe Giselle caught him hooking up with Tara Reid. Maybe he got a really bad concussion two weeks ago which don’t know anything about. Maybe he and Alex Guerrero are eloping to Thailand.

Or maybe he planned it. Who knows? But I don’t know where this silly, over-the-top, complaining is coming from. If he’d announced it earlier in the year, it would still overshadow the conference championship. And honestly, who cares about him announcing it when teams are still playing? We’ve seen enough circus acts come along when the Patriots are preparing for the Super Bowl.

Sounds like he thinks the opposite…maybe if he just gets it out there, it will also die down quicker. The Super Bowl won’t be about Brady…it will be about the teams playing.

He didn’t let it overshadow his own team’s mission. That’s the key.

I have no doubt La Confora is making this up. He’s the worst reporter in the NFL…total bunk. The question is if Brady is retiring anyway…it’s possible La Confora is just breaking what other insiders haven’t broken yet because of enough healthy uncertainty.

If Brady retires, then the Kyle Trask pick makes sense. It means Licht had some hint of it at the beginning of the season. It also means that he was just blowing smoke when he talked about playing past 45 so as to not have the farewell tour.

I don't mind really, NFL is too scripted for my taste. Brady gone means I can move on too and be more productive with my free time away from football.

Most marriages don’t even last 19 years (technically 20) and the ones that do I guarantee you aren’t as enjoyable as this was! They’re far more like Peyton with the Colts, yeah it was a decent 14 years run but he’s let you down more often than not and you traded him in for a younger model as soon as you could.

I just... it’s possibly pure Copium but I just can’t buy that Jason La Confora is the guy who would get the scoop on this. He’s the closest thing to the New York Post or Us Weekly in NFL media. And Florio is just sharing his story not cooberating it, and he sucks too.

Where’s Darlington or Wickersham who we KNOW gets Brady info? How about Schefter? Even Tom Curran locally basically has Brady’s dad on speed dial. Are they keeping quiet out of respect for him while Jason is just a jack ass and doesn’t care?
