OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Must have missed this they almost took out Gronk too

I love how all the Bucs are whiny about a dirty hit to one of their players...

I really doubt White would want to take out his friend lol That was more freakish. This is night and day to the Godwin hit. It's a legal play so there's nothing to complain in that department, but you cannot tell me they were determined to take the Bucs receivers out by aiming at the knees. I posted earlier too that they almost got Gronk too

Average HOF QB104

From Profootball reference.
Their HOF monitor has Manning as the highest graded QB still. It wasn't an illusion that he was a media favorite as evidence by all his all pro votes.

I looked at other players, and they put too much weight on pro bowl and all pro. Not enough on post season play and championships. But I guess that's what the HOF does too.
This is fascinating. I saw a recent top 20 QB list and it had Montana out of the top 5 because it so heavily weighted stats vs post-season play. I am not sure when the definition of "greatness" changed this much but I always thought QBs were judged the most by how they led their teams to championships. I mean that is pretty much true in all team sports IMO.

How in the world is Favre #3 when he has the record for most picks by a mile?

Figured I would put a list of everything Brady has accomplished so far this season. I know his focus is always the next ring but his legacy records this year are absolutely phenomenal considering his age and his unprecedented high level of play in his 40s.
  • Passing yards record versus Pats
  • Completions record versus the Bills
  • 600 regular season touchdowns
  • 700 career touchdowns
  • SI sportsperson of the year (second selection of his career)
  • Record 15th pro bowl selection

That's why I said that even though Gronk had a bad night, it wasn't that bad.

About 3 or 4 of his incompletions was due to being mugged/interfered or he was in survival mode trying not to get injured. The refs non calls allowed the Saints to take their liberties on the Bucs receivers.

If playoffs started this weekend, it would be JimmyG vs TFB in Tompa. That would be awesome.

49ers are finally clicking. They've averaged 29.2 & allowed 18.7 ppg in last 6 games going 5-1. SF has @Tenn, vs HOU, @ LAR left. Much harder schedule.

In contrast, Bucs have averaged 25 & allowed 20.5 going 4-2. Bucs have @ CAR, @NYJ, vs CAR left.

Brady seems to own Shanahan but who knows. The Garoppolites would go crazy if they beat the Bucs. Lol

If the Rams and Cowboys both win out, then the Bucs would be pushed to the 4th seed. You all are going to have to root for the Ravens again in a couple of weeks to beat the Rams lol.

edit: in the above scenario, if the Saints win out as well, they will be the 5th seed facing off against Tampa.

I do not want to face the 49ers at least early on. Let them face the Cowboys and then the Packers and come into Tampa for the NFCCG.

And yes I said I, none of these games
effect the Pats either positively or negatively so I’m fully invested in what’s better for the Bucs here.

I think they get the 2 or 3 seed if they win out since they own the head to head vs Cowboys

Cowboys and Cardinals play eachother. A shoe WILL drop there. If the Cards win then Bucs are the 3 seed straight up. If the Cowboys win then the Bucs remain the 4 seed BUT in the event of any Rams loss going forward they jump to the 2 seed.

Its kind of tricky to figure out who to root for there because if the Rams win out after a Cards loss the Bucs are screwed. But the reward for the risk is very valuable.

The ESPN playoff machine has them at 4 if Cowboys, Bucs, and Rams win out due to conference record being the tie-breaker. If the Rams lose one game, then the Bucs get the 2 seed because of their H2H with Dallas. As the 4 seed, the Bucs would most likely play Arizona. As the 2 seed, most likely Philly/Saints/WFT.

This is correct. But Cardinals can beat the Cowboys which alone changes this dynamic. Because it keeps the Cards ahead in the NFC West and knocks the Cowboys behind the Bucs in the loss column.

Sure, the Cards can beat the Cowboys and the Ravens beat the Rams...that would of course change everything.

I always thought it was the head to head matchup that determined it. Thanks for the clarification

I hope AB can stay healthy. I feel like, with him, it’s like Gronkowski, Moss, Revis, and Gilmore. Guys late in their career who are simply incredible to watch for entertainment alone, and it will suck when it ends. AB is one of the best overall football players I’ve ever watched. Even at age 33, this guy is still torching CBs and is a threat on any type of play.

Remember all those idiots who said Brady was “desperate” to bring AB and Gronk with him? Brady knows all too well how close you are at all times to losing a player to injury and being a completely different unit. If it weren’t for the “splash signings”,
the Bucs would be going into the postseason with Evans, Miller, Brate, Howard, and Jones. What a disaster that would be…one the worst groups of positional players of all the NFC teams.

Wonder if he’ll resign next year for cheap again because he’s such a liability and also seems to adore Beady.

I don’t know if he can get through the postseason, though, let alone another season. Injuries seem to be piling up. 33 for a receiver is really old. I doubt any team would invest much in him due to the injury/decline risk.

After the fake card fiasco I doubt they bring him back.
