OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

All the teams that lost their top four passing targets, including three in the very game being played.
Please.... give us the full list.

Did you actually watch the game? The bucs offense was trying to methodically work the ball down the field to get the touchdown to win the game. The issue is their field goal kicker missed a kick early and then Brady fumbled inside the 20. Otherwise the plays were there to be had but they either weren't executed or the Saints simply stopped them. The offensive play calling was not an issue IMO.

The only deep shots Brady took was the one to gronk where gronk didn't see the ball or just plain missed it and the one to darden who had one-on-one coverage down the sideline but for some reason wasn't running full speed on the route. Otherwise everything was short plays right in front of Brady to his tight ends and run plays with Jones that were actually working quite well except Jones would not show any grit and picking up short yardage needed for first downs which is why he is the backup running back to begin with.

I mean can you site specifically where you thought the play calling was such an issue given the personnel on the field?

I'm not the only one reading the posts in this forum.

Well, since you've decided to make requests on behalf of others reading this forum, how many might that be? Do you have a list?

I don’t recall the Bucs being in on him at all.
youre right...i think it was just some twitter non-sense i remembered seeing....seems like Arians shut it down pretty quickly that there wasnt interest

There didn’t need to be with AB waiting in the wings. He’d be the 4th guy with zero time to build chemistry with Brady. Obviously during the offseason that all changes.

I didn't make the claim that these teams were around to be found. You did. So let's have that list.

One time I had a dream where the Chiefs lost Hill, Kelce, and Williams all on the first play of the game due to a freak collision and they lost 59-0. I had to change the sheets but it was worth it. Does that count?

I didn't make that claim either. I answered your question the only sensible way possible: when teams lose players, they make in-game adjustments -- by necessity -- on the fly. My exact words: "All the teams that lost their top four passing targets, including three in the very game being played," assuming other teams besides your Buccaneers have suffered similar misfortune. Or lost their top running backs, top linebackers, top offensive linemen, etc. It's a pretty safe bet this sort of thing has occurred multiple times in the NFL's 101-year history, even since advent of the free-agency era. If you need a list perhaps you can chase after one, you've got plenty of time.

In retrospect I might amend my statement to: all the teams WITH COMPETENT COACHING that lost their top four passing targets, including three in the very game they played. (Actually, it seems we're talking about two WRs and one running back, not necessarily the Bucs' top-three receiving threats as that would omit Gronk.)

"In-game adjustments on the fly" re. personnel groupings, play calling, various strategies including clock management, etc. If you find it inconceivable that a team can "adjust accordingly" on the fly after losing its top receiving targets in-game, you perhaps should seek remedial help. Or maybe become a BB fan.

Watched that Godwin hit again.

That wasn't a hit or a tackle. Don't know what that was. No attempt to hit or wrap up and and tackle Godwin down.

That Saints defender crouched down low right at the knee on purpose.

Absolutely ridiculous. I thought purposeful trying to injure someone is illegal. That kind of play is going to knock out a receiver 9 out of 10 times.

Wasn't bountygate all about that?

I'm actually glad that this thread is not on the main forum. Somedays it's hard to keep up with all the posts. If this thread was on the main forum, it would get flooded by tons of posts especially after a bad loss.

Wonder if Bucs pursue OBJ in the offseason. We all know for a fact that he’s been dying to play with Brady for years and if the Rams don’t win the Super Bowl this year he’ll still be ring chasing. I don’t mean as a Godwin replacement but as an AB replacement. OBJ is just 29 and is proving to still be good. AB will be 35.

Godwins injury blurred this up. Will a team still give him a big contract if I’m Tampa I let him walk and sign Odell/AB

that’s dirty I don’t care and I’m assuming that’s what Colinworth said before it cut off

Godwin is not going anywhere. If anything it just got cheaper for Tampa to sign him.

I agree it will reduce Godwin's market.

As long as Brady is playing, they absolutely need him back.

Brady is at his best when he has a very good slot receiver at their prime. There was Branch, Welker, Edelman, and now Godwin. Odell/AB don't play that role.

Average HOF QB104

From Profootball reference.
Their HOF monitor has Manning as the highest graded QB still. It wasn't an illusion that he was a media favorite as evidence by all his all pro votes.

I looked at other players, and they put too much weight on pro bowl and all pro. Not enough on post season play and championships. But I guess that's what the HOF does too.
