I see this as one of those games where Indy marches down the field their first series and the Pats tighten it up after that, there's been a few games like that this season depending on the team we play.

I’m sure they‘ll have something scripted to start off the game with

Taylor is having one hell of a year. I still think we SHOULD win this, but anything can happen.

Defense needs to come to play.

Not sure if already mentioned, but If the Pats beat Indy with a Dolphins and Bills loss, they clinch the division.

Fine w/ me.

They play Cover 2 and lots of soft zone coverage on the outside.

Their run D is very ave. If they want to force Mac to throw then load up the box as they are not shutting down our run with just their front 4. No chance.

mcdaniels might over think and want to show up the colts or somethign and come out throwing ...i hope not.

  1. Did he really just say this out loud?
  2. Is this an accurate reflection of how their coaches are thinking?
  3. I don't normally think the "locker room material" thing has much impact on professionals, but somebody please pass this along to Mr. Andrews.

Jesus if a NEP said this to a media member BB would go all Vlad the Impaler on the poor bastard.

I want to see our offense in a dome after 2 weeks prep. In ATL it was a Thurs night, and we were playing pretty vanilla.
Colts D can be dangerous, but they're going to commit to stop the run early, so we need to be ready to strike.
I'm concerned Taylor is going to be able to churn out 1st downs and control the clock. I'm not worried about Wentz at all, but if they wear out our D with the run, that's an issue.

A "joke" you say? ;)

This might be the most difficult test in some time. Colts have a very good OL, the best RB in the NFL, and a tough defense. Where they’ll lose is Wentz. I’d expect a ton of one-gapping in this game with the most Cover-0 we’ve seen in some time. Shoot those gaps and try to contain Taylor in the backfield before he gets a head of steam. If they throw the ball, Wentz panics under pressure.
One gapping creates large holes. I think rather than trying to get tackles in the backfield at the risk of being gashed, they will 2 gap primarily and keep the runs within 2-5 yards. Except in short yardage.
will be interesting to see how BB approaches it

Here's the thing though: The Bills had 10 guys in the box and we still ran for almost 5 ypc on them. They KNEW we were going to run, and they couldn't stop it unless they guessed right and blew a play up in the backfield. We won't want to be that one dimensional in a dome, so while I don't doubt they will try to take away the run and make Mac carry the load, CAN they do it? Even with the Bills' recent run of bad run defense, they're still better at yards allowed per carry than the Colts (4.1 to 4.5). I like our chances running the football in general, but if they really want to sell out against it I have confidence Mac can take advantage.

Monday was under extraordinary circumstances. The Pats ran it when certainly there were situations which audibles or different play calls would have yielded better results if the game conditions were normal.

If the Dolts start showing blitz on run plays w/ 8 already in the box Mac will torch them.
