NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 15 pre-game thread: Patriots vs Colts

This is the kind of game that a coach earns his Coach-of-the-Year trophy. We’re at the #1 seed, running away with the division, and we’ve won seven in a row. If we let up at all, the Colts are going to kill us. I definitely see a chess match out there, with both teams thinking three moves ahead. Reich assumes BB will take away the run game, so Wentz comes out passing against an eight man box. But, maybe BB anticipates THAT, and actually plays a balance D…. Okay, I have no idea what to expect, but I like BB’s chances in a battle of wits.
Colts are 2-6 when Wentz throws more than 30 times. 5-0 when he doesn't

Colts are 1-6 when they allow more than 19 points.

Colts are 1-4 when they score less than 26 points.

Colts are 2-6 when Taylor has less than 18 carries.

Game plan seems pretty clear to me.

All the talk about the Pats really not have beaten anyone because even the good teams they beat have been shorthanded or unique circumstances, but this is the second game in a row that the Pats will face a team that really hasn't beaten anyone either. Only team with a winning record the Bills have beaten was the Chiefs before they got their act together on defense and the only team the Colts have beaten with a winning record are the Bills. The Colts are 1-5 against teams currently with winning records (win against the Bills and losses against the Rams, Ravens, twice against Titans, and Bucs).

AFC seems wide open. The team that scares the most is probably the Ravens

The colts are running the same offense as the eagles when the eagles won a super bowl against us. Hopefully bb has answers now that he did not have then!

Shouldn't be a problem as long as they don't bench their CB1 one hour before tipoff and make 4 DBs all play out of normal position

Not worried about winning this game. Long as the QB is NOT NAMED MANNING...

:D

After week 1, the Pats were ranked 15th in the AFC. Today, we are ranked 1st. What an unbelievable turnaround.

This might be the most difficult test in some time. Colts have a very good OL, the best RB in the NFL, and a tough defense. Where they’ll lose is Wentz. I’d expect a ton of one-gapping in this game with the most Cover-0 we’ve seen in some time. Shoot those gaps and try to contain Taylor in the backfield before he gets a head of steam. If they throw the ball, Wentz panics under pressure.

Shooting the gaps means Bentley, hightower and Duggar have to have really good games. For this happen, godchaux or guy has to command a double team.

Center kelly or guard Nelson should be able to handle either godchaux or guy 1 on 1. This is going to be a difficult day for the defense.

Time for jones to step up and use those tight ends in the passing game.
