McDaniels to Bears talk is becoming deafening.

I agree, I hope Belichick has someone new in mind if MacDaniels leaves because I don’t want any of the retreads (O’Shea, O’ Brien, Daboll etc….).
On the flip side, do you want someone trying to install a new offensive philosophy?

I’m not necessarily pro O’Brien, but you’d be hiring him for OC. He’s a good OC, adequate HC, and a disastrous GM. So I’d be OK with a return.

I don’t think he’s a good OC. I don’t want him back as a waterboy. He’s a piece of sh.t.

Nice to see this Thread moving along nicely without any histrionics. Only a matter of time I would imagine.

People here used to say “ hire Mike Martz” as an example, and I said then and I will say it again, Belichick is never going to hire someone to come in and run their offense. He will hire someone to run his offense, not someone to run their own. He’s never done that and he never will.

I think Romans will be the front runner. I would love to see the Ravens get hit with a big coaching loss, it seems to happen to the Patriots yearly.
Roman makes more sense for a team with Fields at QB.

I suspect that McDaniels is waiting for a better opportunity than Chicago. He backed out of a pretty decent opportunity in Indy, why would he risk the organizational dysfunction of Chicago?

Roman sucks. Fields is not Jackson. Fields has mobility but is not a running qb. The baltimore offense would be a mistake, and that is Roman’s only real success.

yeah...and those people suddenly seemed to have disappeared. Odd...the FBI Cold Case division should look into this mystery

Never going to happen. Bears GM is awful.

Why would he do that? His next shot at HC is his last so he better shop for the right match if he wants to be a viable head coach in the league. The Bears aren't it IMHO. There are worst organizations in the league but the Bears are in the mix.

Pace would get fired if Ownership wanted McDaniels that bad. Pace is on his way to being fired anyways.

It's all about the QB, and what a prospective HC thinks of him.

This is a really good point, and it is the best argument for MacDaniels staying in NE. This is exactly the reason Belichick dumped the Jets, he knew his second shot could well be his last and there was no way he was going to let Parcells determine his destiny. So when Kraft promised him complete control over football operations it was a done deal. While we don’t know for certain whether Kraft promised MacDaniels he would be next in line in NE we do know he’s paying him HC $. MacDaniels needs to act like his next HC decision may well be his last, because it very well could be. New England gives him the best chance at long term success as all of the organizational pieces are in place, and Kraft isn’t a knee jerk owner. This off-season may answer many of our questions.

That’s a good point ( on personnel), but if they were to come at him with something like 12 million a year, when he is reportedly earning 5 million a year, then that would be very difficult to turn down. I hope the Patriots can keep him because finding a decent replacement will be tough, and guys like O’Shea, or the sack of sh.t O’ Brien would ****** Jones development or destroy him altogether.

i think Kraft would be willing to open his check book much further after seeing how well he’s helping develop Mac. Teams routinely spend hundreds of millions of dollars over several years, searching for a QB that they can hopefully develop. What is a few extra million to Robert when you have all the Foundational pieces you need to succeed.

That’s a possibility as well. I think the point Boston Patriot made is the best one, MacDaniels next HC job may be his last in the pro’s so making sure all the pieces are in place to succeed is the most important factor in succeeding. He has that in NE, if he’s in line to replace Belichick, which is likely. The wild card in all of this how long Belichick is planning on sticking around, if it 5 years MacDaniels may not want to wait that long? We will know more by spring.
