McDaniels to Bears talk is becoming deafening.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that what you are getting is what everyone else is getting. Google and other platforms have become pretty shrewd in manipulating you, by giving you content that it calculates will stimulate more engagement from you. it's flooding you with this specific content because it has detected that this kind of content is causing you to click more than usual.

The truth is this: The Bears are considering McDaniels along with Daboll and a handful of others. In short, they're doing what every other organization looking for a HC is doing.

I have never been a fan of Daboll but he has done a really good job with Josh Allen. It makes sense that he would be included in the search.

He has.

I still don't like his offensive philosophy. Way too heavy on the pass. Not enough of a commitment to the run.

I would not want him here.

I don’t see McDaniels and Fields being a fit. Sounds like the writer had a deadline he needed to meet and grabbed an old, familiar name out of the hat.
Exactly

McDaniels comes from an offense that emphasizes pocket passing and allowing the RBs to do their thing.. Fields wants to run around and be Mike Vick. Running QBs are always conflicted whether to hang in the pocket till the last micro second or take off like a jack rabbit. From what I've read, 2022 is a poor QB draft and unless Chicago drafts a new QB, I just dont see this working.

Reason I think Bears could be a fit the ownership doesn't meddle with the coach.
Could allow him to bring in Ziegler and run things the way BB does in New England.

Presently, the Bears offense ranks.

32nd in passing attempts
32nd in passing TDs
32nd in passing yards
30th in net yards per passing attempt.

Field is the reincarnation of Cam Newton. 4 passing TDs and 8 INTS. A 58% completion percentage svcks. McDaniel's will be fired again trying to turn Fields into something that he isn't.

I agree, I hope Belichick has someone new in mind if MacDaniels leaves because I don’t want any of the retreads (O’Shea, O’ Brien, Daboll etc….).

I do think this off-season will give us some insight into whether or not MacDaniels is going to succeed Belichick or not? Belichick has always encouraged his coaches and coordinators to take the interviews whether they are ready or not, but MacDaniels has already been down that road numerous times, if he simply refuses consideration it’s safe to say he is succeeding Belichick, because after the Indy fiasco if he takes interviews then that is unlikely, as he isn’t going to take interviews with no intention of taking a job.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Has had interviews with many teams over the years, yet nothing happens for whatever reason. And what he did to the Colts could’ve black balled him with other Owners.

That’s a good point ( on personnel), but if they were to come at him with something like 12 million a year, when he is reportedly earning 5 million a year, then that would be very difficult to turn down.

It would also smack of the desperation that has kept the Bears a mediocre franchise for nearly four decades. We can hope that he'd sniff that out and choose family and self happiness over a quick payday.

Although @$12M a year...wow that's a big savings account even if you are done after 3-5 years. I'd be stunned if they went that high though.

In fairness to JF, most of the rookies, including the 2nd coming, all suck right now (strangely enough TL and ZW both have 58% comp - DMills has 67%). Josh Allen was even more terrible. I see your point, though.

Last year, JF was surprisingly good (and much better than MJones) on his 2nd reads (source: thedraftnetwork), so it's probably just a matter of development and a good fit. I don't think he had a lot of first team snaps in TC, but I could be wrong.

I don't know enough about O'Shea to say hes good or he sucks. He had a tough time in MIA but i'm not sure that's all him. Fitzmagic had a decent year under him.

Actually I'd be ok with BOB. I liked him here. The O did well and he liked his running game.

Maybe. I have no idea what the succession plan is down there. Fat Matt's presence has me confused.

I don't see Bill going anywhere anytime soon (2 years?)

Let’s be realistic. With the way Mac has performed, some team is going to make a run at McDaniels. I have no idea what McDaniels wants out of life, though, since he hasn’t taken past opportunities to leave in order to remain here. Say what you want of the Colts but they’ve treated Reich well in the job Josh turned down.

Patricia supposedly is the new Ernie Adams, at least this year.

I agree, and I wasn’t suggesting they would go that high, but more like an offer like that would be too good to pass up. Given that almost if not all the owners are now billionaires they can throw around that kind of cash in ways that didn’t used to be realistic.

Why isn't there any talk about him going to the Texans? Seems like a good fit with his old NE buddies. He could sweet talk Deshaun into staying and have his QB. Lots of draft choices. Owner is a negative.

Go check out what O’Brien did to the Texans, he literally ruined their franchise. The players hated him and the moves he made were some of the worst I have ever seen. E.g..Hopkins for David Johnson… He turned a talented franchise into one of the worst in the league, and there is serious speculation he damaged them on purpose, which if true should have led to a permanent ban from the league. It would be very difficult to prove, so that hasn’t happened, but I still wouldn’t touch him for a variety of reasons.

I think Belichick brought Patricia back to be the next Ernie Adam’s, and so far that seems to be the case, although I don’t know if he’s in the booth on game days. I would be interested to find that out. I think it’s the perfect role for Patricia as he is really bright and has a strong base of football knowledge. It’s also likely that he is insurance if they lose Zeigler, Wolf, or other front office personnel, and his involvement in contracts indicates he’s working in a front office role as well.

It’d be hilarious if the Jets fire Saleh and Urban Meyers leaves the Jags and they both along with Chicago all pursue McDaniels to fix their QB they drafted ahead of Mac.

Yep but also has GM-like responsibility. For instance he has his John Hancock on contracts. Not sure if hes handling negotiations, running point, etc.

I do know Fat Matt brought over his personal poindexter from DET- Evan "Ace" Rothstein to help him with the analytics stuff.

I don't think you are wrong but it seems he has numerous responsibilities here. Kinda like BB's chief of staff.

I’m not necessarily pro O’Brien, but you’d be hiring him for OC. He’s a good OC, adequate HC, and a disastrous GM. So I’d be OK with a return.

I agree BOB destroyed HOU.

But as an OC he was fine here.

Some guys are better captains than generals.

I think Matt's role is broader than Ernie's was with more biz & ops than what Ernie had. See my post responding to Tune.
