OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Can you imagine the Saints last year with Brady/Gronk/Brown?

Dominant.

I think there are a bunch of teams that would, in hindsight, be a “super team” waiting to happen if Tom, or maybe another elite QB went there in 2020.
  • Dolphins - finished 11-5 with Fitzpatrick and Tua Fish! Need I say more?
  • Chargers - they had a lot of pieces and were initially thought to be first choice
  • 49ers - defending NFC Champs
  • Bucs - proven
  • Saints - damn…definitely #1 team in football; Thomas wouldn’t whine about dead arm passes
  • Bears - not sure if interest was legit, but with that d, and supportimg cast, they’re a contender in NFC
  • Titans - I think they go 13-3 and cruise to AFCCG vs. Chiefs again. Imagine having Henry and all that talent.

Belichick messing with Arians and BA taking the bait.

Yeah, he had a bad game. The Rams were giving him tough coverage. I think if AB played , it could have totally change the outcome of the game. The Bucs actually played it close but the refs were very one sided. There was the phantom pass interference on Gronk. And then one not called against him later in the game where he slowed down looking for the ball too soon while also being interfered. His redzone drop/miss was a difficult catch but an elite player should have gotten that most of the time. His other drop on a deep pass, was also a difficult catch but if he laid out for it, he would have caught it similar to his catch on the 1 yard line in the Rams SB.
How dare you criticize Gronk. He the GOAT and he has made many great catches.

Your hate of him is irrational, you need to get on board and acknowledge his greatness.

[Sarcasm]

I didn't realize this.
Gronk for Asisi + Mr. 3%
OMG, that's terrible by the Pats.

As good as Gronk has been in the last SB and the start of the season, the Rams game was a good reminder for the Bucs coaches that he is no longer peak Gronk and not to overuse him. Especially against a top defence that played dirty cause the refs allowed it.

It was a hard but clean hit. Not a hospital ball and also not anything bad by the defender. It was just a football play, it happens.

I know. They could have went 19-0.

I don’t know if you’re joking but they’d come close to it that defense is elite elite and they have amazing coaching. Now add in the GOAT with a better offense than he has in Tampa. Thomas, AB , Gronk and Kamara out the back field is absolutely absurd

I wasn't able to see the replay.

But whether to call a penalty all depends if the refs feel like calling it or not and who is getting hit. A clean hit that is too hard is often called unnecessary roughness nowadays especially against QBs and favorite players/team. Gronk usually doesn't get the calls. He'll get mugged yet no defensive pass interference but they sure do call a lot of ticky tacky offensive interference on him. Kelce is much worse with push offs but doesn't get called on it.

To be fair, the Bucs did benefit from calls last year during the start of the winning streak to the SB. This year they are getting the ticky tacky calls against them, and it appears that the NFL is favouring the Rams.

Multiple reports (check Twitter) that Gronk is still likely to play Sunday. He’s back at practice as a limited participant. Rapoport said there’s no way he misses the game, while others say he’s trending to play but will be listed as Questionable.

On his girlfriend’s social media, she posted she had been away for two months (filming, I think) and just returned this week. So, I wonder if missed practices were half personal request/half to heal up sore ribs.

On another note, Arians said they’re getting Sherman up to speed and didn’t rule out playing him Sunday. May have to do with the status of Dean and Davis. I think Dean is 50/50 and Davis will play but is banged up so Sherman could be insurance.

It sounds like Harry might play. That’s who they should throw Sherman on to ease him in.

Debate is over. Bill concedes. Team Bill will never accept it. Lol

Any DB on Harry has the day off.

Arians was asked if Dee Delaney would start in Dean’s place, said they’ll see. They could also turn to practice-squad corners Pierre Desir or Rashard Robinson. Ross ****rell should be in the slot.

With Gio Bernard out, Ke’Shawn Vaughn dresses as the No. 3 running back, though Arians said he might use Fournette more in Bernard’s pass-catching and third-down role.

Arians on Mac Jones:
“I loved him coming out (of the draft),” Arians told reporters in his press conference Wednesday. “(He’s) smart, a pocket player who’s going to get the ball out and very accurate. Obviously, pressure doesn’t bother him. He played in some big games (for Alabama). He led his team to the championship so, yeah, he’s legit.”
