NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION ****** Other NFL Games Thread Week 1 ******

Lot of QB's have started the same time as Brady and even a few years after and none of them are still playing. Its not even the physical part, its the mental part. Some just do not want to play that long, in fact most dont.

I think a lot of people not wanting to play that long has to do with their bodies. They don't like waking up in pain and they see it is harder and harder to maintain the level of play. I think it goes hand in hand. But if QBs bodies can hold up longer, I think it will come the norm at some point that QBs play into their 40s. There is too much money and these guys have been playing football their whole lives.

Man, where are we when 40 td's 4600 yards and a 102 Qb rating is considered inconsistent. Allen had 4500 yards and 37 td's and he was the most amazing feat ever by a QB. Mahomes had 4700 yards 38 td's and he was the miracle that keeps on giving. Brady though? Inconsistent. I would say since he went to a brand new team with no offseason and those guys all were on their same team, that Brady was even better, and in the end, that was proven.

I look at the games, not the stats. But I am not rehashing this argument. Hell, I even went back and looked at games last year when I got into this argument last time.

It is 2021. Not 2020. Why do you care so much if I put Brady around 6th last year and said he looked like he had lost a little (not a lot) last year? Why are you guys so upset about that? You take so much offense to it. It is my opinion. You take it like I killed your mother.

but again...nobody has. Even Bret Favre didnt play that long and he is an iron man. I dont think Brady has played this long because of Modern medicine, because everyone else had access to this modern medicine in his time and they didnt. Also something you are forgetting. A lot of the new QB's are running QB's, that will die as you get older and if you cannot learn how to play from the pocket, you are not going to last long. You really see a player like Jackson playing 20 years? Brady perfected things because he kept working at them, some players do not, they live off their talent and what they do, and never really try to change to adapt. I'm not fast, so I better be able to read defenses on another level and throw quick passes, things like that. Bucs players say Brady outworks most players on the team at 44. Again, we can say it will happen, but it just hasnt.

Because its ok for people to disagree with you? Maybe thats why. Pretty good for playing on a torn mcl the entire year for a 44 year old. 40 td's 102 QB rating, would have been his 5th best season ever....sorry but I just do not agree with you.

It isn't that they disagree with me. They are obsessed that I said that I felt Brady was just outside the top 5. There is a segment of this board who are in the Brady cult and any negative comment about Brady is an offense.

If they wanted a serious debate, I say bring it on. I am not opposed to it and I don't back down from a fight. This is not that.

And I never said anything negative about Brady's season last year. I thought it was awesome what he did at his age. This all started when I said that I thought Brady lost a little bit, but for him to lose a little bit means he is still one of the best QBs in the league. I am still a huge Brady fan and still root for him when it isn't against the Pats' interests.

Things change. When Brady came into the league, most QBs were done by 35-36 or so. A few made it to their late 30s and an extremely small handful made it to their 40s Now it isn't uncommon for QBs to last until near 40 and several QBs have started to play into their 40s.

And no the QBs who rely on their feet to be good like Jackson will have relatively short careers compared to most QBs. But if Mac Jones becomes a good or great QB, I could see a guy like him playing into his 40s. The field of QBs will be limited a bit because of the trend of athletic QBs who use their physical abilities over their mental ones.

But I still think the trend of players playing longer will continue. It just isn't QB. There are RBs who can still play at a high level in their 30s when back in the day 30 was like hitting the wall. You are even seeing a lot of skill players on both sides of the ball play into their late 30s which rarely happened 20 years ago.

Still arguing the Bucs not getting an OPI call huh? It just shows how triggered some on here are that Brady escaped with a win.

As with any internet site, this place has its clowns. Granted, to be on this site, and to be a Brady basher at this point, you are in competition for the title of "Clown of all Clowns", but the clowns don't care.

I can't tell if it is a grab from that picture. I posted the video and it looks from that that he had his hand on the back. And there was no tug of the jersey which would be almost required in a situation where both players are going for the ball. In fact ,from what I saw on the video, if the defender did grab the jersey it was slightly before the image you posted. The image you posted it is clear that there is no grab at that point.

And the rule says that pass interference only occurs if the defender "significantly hinders an eligible receiver from catching the ball". So even if he did grab the jersey there, it isn't pass interference especially since he was looking back for the ball. The "grab" did nothing to hinder Godwin's ability to catch the ball.

And a flop is irrelevant. The most important part of the play on whether it was OPI was whether he pushed off and it appears he did. A flop might draw attention to an OPI or deceive a ref into thinking there was OPI and throw a flag. But since the ref didn't call it a penalty, it is completely irrelevant. If the ref did, then you might have a point.
Technically a penalty I suppose but there would be flags on every single play if "technically"were the standard. The separation wasn't created by him extending his arm a bit. Refs use discretion a good number of times in a game. It's a little amusing how many posts are devoted here to diminish the Brady led game winning drive. When he was a Patriot you all would be defending it.

That's TommyBrady12?

That explains such idiotic postings.
I was wondering why I had an unfamiliar poster on my ignore list.

Lol!! That the problem with you Brady cultists. You think everything is an assault on Brady. There was nothing wrong with Brady’s pass. It was exactly where it should have been.

I said in this thread even with that being a penalty, the Bucs probably would have won anyway and that if Brady plays like he did on Thursday that he would be the best QB in the league or at least #2 (since Mahomes is capable of the same).

You Brady cultists are ruining this board. You come here and bash Belichick endlessly and if anyone makes a comment about the Bucs, you get offended as if it is an attack on Brady.

This is a Patriots message board. Not a Brady one. If you want everyone to be blind homers for the Bucs because Brady is on it, go to a Bucs’ board.

Anyone who knows me here knows that I am not afraid of saying the Pats benefited from a bad call or non-call.

Lmao. Sensitive much? You're taking this forum waaay tooo seriously dude. It's only football. You seem to be the only poster here obsessed with the so-called OPI no call, as if it matters whether you are correct or not. Who GAF? No one, that's who.

Maybe take some time off from the forum if it stresses you so much. And for God's sake, stop your whining.

Lol! I am just tired of you Brady cultist demanding blind homerism to Brady and the Bucs on a Patriots message board.

Yea, that's not happening.

On the contrary, there seems to be an ostracizing of Patriots fans that still support Brady, questioning their loyalties as fans, as if some Loyalty Oath has to be taken to prove your devotion and fandom.

That's really weird for The Guy that helped the franchise win every single one of its SBs. He began the dynasties and spanned both of them. I haven't heard anyone demanding devotion to the Bucs. That's nonsense. The second TFB retires, nobody here is going to GAF about the fv&ken Bucs.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to an exciting Patriots season. Hoping for the best, and being cautiously optimistic.

You protest too much regarding that non call. Id like to see your history of post after post after post after post after post etc. etc. of you explaining a non call that went the Patriots way. Brady cultists? Belichick bashers? Clearly you have drawn a line in the sand and your obsession to be right on that one play. Why is that so important to you?

This was not a top 5 post.
