OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I think Manning absolutely identifies himself as a Denver Bronco and not a Colt. Being told about his induction in Mile High Stadium and he was wearing a Broncos jersey. I don't think that was a coincidence, it was definitely a diss at the Colts and this is probably why.

I really hope Brady doesn't feel that way about the Patriots. He talked about football being fun again but I think that was more about BB than the organization so we'll see.

I honestly think Brady would always choose to identify with both teams, or really whichever teams he plays for, and it’s about his teammates. Whether he loves or hates Kraft or Belichick, I can’t imagine he’d ever try to distance himself from all the people around him he’s befriended and respected within the org. And same with Tampa Bay, even if it had been a total flop last year. Brady is always talking about past Patriots games, past Patriots players, etc. too. He’s always talked about Michigan in a positive light, too, even though thats where he developed the chip on his shoulder.

Reports indicate that he was done with the BB experience for years before he was allowed to move on. How much of that gets the "... and the Patriots, too!" treatment isn't something I've seen much written about.

The latest reports are that after the Butler Super Bowl, combined with the drama the whole season over his body guru and Bill waiting until the last second to trade Jimmy, is when he went to Kraft and wanted out. So Spring 2018. Obviously he stuck around for another two years even after the insulting 2018 incentive contract he got that August or whenever so I would bet he was talked off the ledge. But the no going back, its over point, was the contract boost he got in August 2019 with the voidable years after allegedly threatening to hold out. That was when Brady knew he was done. I firmly believe that if in 2018 he got an honest to god contract extension at a market rate that went to age 44/45 he’d have signed and still be here.

Yep and around that time their were rumors that BB might be interested in coaching the Giants.

Wouldn't surprise me if Kraft was originally going to part with Bill until Brady talked about not wanting to live in NE anymore because of his family.

Just made most sense for Brady to move on.

Would be awesome if a tell all book was written by Kraft, Brady, and Bill to get the full story.

We will never get an honest book from any of them. All we’ll have is indirect info from when people like Mike Reiss or Tom Curran or some national guys write something. Mike will be more pro Bill. Tom will be more pro Tom. And the national guys also have their relations.

NFL is moving back to gradual roster cutdowns - 90 now, cut to 85 after first preseason game, 80 after second, then 53 on Aug. 31. That’s only seven weeks away …

That's it. I'm done ****yfooting around.
Richard Sherman's arrest, Travis Kelce's name, Cassius Marsh (who?) badmouthing the Pats, Jake Bequette running for office in Alabama, Ohtani (what?), Soccer, the Barkevious Mingo and Frank Clark arrests, the NBA (talk about something that doesn't matter), Aaron Rodgers' unhappiness, Glenn Ordway's retirement and some NYFL player coming out as gay are all in the main forum but not Tom Brady posts. What the hell is going on here?

Spurned lovers.

Team Bill crying to the mods like a bunch of babies. Especially since 2/7/21.

Good summary. Two things to add though:
Several years of bad draft was catching up to them. It was evident in the way the 2019 team backed into the playoff and got knocked out 1st round. 2020 confirmed that it was the roster not Brady.

The only way to have fixed the roster was by going all in which BB was refusing to do. Thus, it forced Brady to leave.

AND no, I don't consider drafting Nkeal and trading a 2nd for a washed up WR in Sanu as going all in.

Going all in is what Tampa did for 2020 and even more so for 2021.

The 2021 Pat's had made some big splashes in FA that I wish they would have done in 2019. Other than receiving, it wa a legit contender but having what I think was the worse receiving core in the league sunk the season. I know they had cap issues but as we've seen in Tampa, there are ways to get around it.

I would not say Tampa went all in 2020 or even 2021. Licht has been killing the draft for the past 6 seasons now. So much of their talent they won with last year was guys on their rookie contracts and smart FA vet signings to have the perfect combo of young and vet talent.

He literally built that team from the bottom up and the cherry on top was of course signing Brady. His only real big miss was Winston but finding the franchise QB is insanely difficult. In terms of this season, he just resigned his talent and he did so on very good contracts to boot.

That is the part that always irked me about Bill. We had some very good drafts the early part of the 2010s and he did not extend that talent especially on defense (Jones, Flowers, Collins, Butler). He really didn't even try with the skill positions as no replacement for Edelman, he let Amendola walk, no replacements for Hernandez or Gronk, traded Cooks and didn't replace him. What he did to the skill positions was criminal really to Brady and to the team. He tried to draft two TEs last year and both were busts forcing him to over pay for Smith and Henry. It is what it is but Tampa did not mortgage its future at all to win last year or compete this year. It did help that the GOAT gave them a deal with his extension but then again Bill had that for 20 years.

Brady played last year in a torn MCl this is incredible. The team is literally getting better next year and will have an offseason to build on too yikes

I literally don’t understand how that’s possible. And people give credit to fake tough guys like Favre and Ben who play up every little bruise they get.

So this happened when he was still playing with New England. Now we need to narrow that down to a specific day/week.

Of course only Florio would try to make this controversial. Lol.

If he was on the Patriots there would be trouble. Not because of Brady but any chance for other owners to go after Bill. They never cared really about Brady so they won’t care that this happened.

Just wait till they find out he sustained the injury in 2019. Lol
