Trade up now or wait

i think they are leaving the option open hoping to drive the trade market up, but that might just be me
I don’t think he is tradable. The Rams had to add picks to the deal to get the lions to accept him.

If the Pats strike now the need to slink into the Top 5 as....

JAX will take Lawrence
Jets happy with Darnold? Trade down?
MIA happy with Tua? Trade down?
ATL should take a QB but who knows
CIN has Burrows - that seems like the move up to me
Philly happy with Hurts?
Lions need a QB
Panthers need a QB
Bronks happy w/ Lock?

Cheap-ass Paul Brown will want a bevy of picks.

Trying to remember but I don't think BB has ever made a trade w/ CIN.

Plus that whole camera episode can't help discussions.
2nd for Corey Dillon.

#27 and a 3rd for #21 that was used for Chandler Jones.

i think they are leaving the idea that they MIGHT consider a QB in the 7 spot to drive the trade price to gain more from someone wanting to trade up.....not that they may trade goff

To me, there's only 2 sure-fire franchise qbs in this draft: Lawrence and Wilson.
Lawrence no chance and Wilson highly unlikely. If theres a way to get Wilson, I say do it.
The rest of the qbs are flawed.
I dont like Fields or Lance. Dont want a running qb. You won't win with them.
Im not crazy about Jones but Id take him in a heartbeat over Fields or Jones. Plus you might not need to give up as much to get him. He wont be there at 15.

I think Atlanta is the spot and I think there is no chance they draft a qb.
There is no way belichick is going to let the camera thing prevent him from making a trade he needs to make. Actually cincy being cheap helps because 15 costs a lot less than 5.
All depends if ATL wants to move Ryan after 2021.

Rookie deals have a cap. Thats right up Brown's alley.

I do find it interesting in 20 years Bill has never done a deal w/ CIN EDIT: forgot about Dillon

Could be that the GM of the NEP is quite content to have Cam Newton as the starter this season and is surrounding him with enough quality at skill positions to assuage the shortcomings he displayed last season. That being said, I think it's quite possible that Kyle Pitts is on the NEP radar. A generational talent that steps in day one.. Given the questions surrounding the QB's after picks 1 and 2, it'd be pure Belechick to grab a QB in the 2nd round.

In the last 2 years Lawrence ran 171 times
Fields 218
It’s not correct to call Fields a running QB

Why would Atlanta want to move on from Ryan and pass on the #4 player or what they can net in a trade down to do it? Qb isn’t their problem.

Joe this is some of your funniest with.
Content to have Cam Newton. Good one, tip the waitresses, you’ll be here all week.

If brown trades down he gets more rookies.

Set up the framework now and execute your plan on draft day. No point of showing your hand a month away from draft day.

The reason to do it now is to not get left out on draft day. Framework doesn’t help if someone jumps in and offers more.

True, but what if you trade up now for the one player you want and he ultimately doesn’t fall to you? I think you wait see it that player drops then make your move. I dunno, I’m not a GM just my opinion.

Under normal circumstances I would agree but these are t normal circumstances. You have to draft a QB. So you have to trade up to where you can. If you are trading for 1 player you have to trade high enough to know you will get him.
You won’t know any better on draft day how high that is unless you sit and risk losing him.

Will the Pats be a good team with Cam as QB? I think so. Can they be a great team with a better QB? No doubt. Either need to get aggressive via trade or moving up in the draft. This roster is too good to squander

I didn’t mean ever, I meant this year.

The trouble is, you’re making all kinds of assumptions; that BB likes four QBs, that QBs dont go 1-2-3. If you are trading four top picks to get to 4 (2021 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 2022 first at a minimum), you better be damn sure you are getting the person you want. And unless you have franchise QB grades on at least four of the QBs, then trading to four ahead of the draft is a big risk.

Whilst I dont think Pitts will happen after signing 2 TEs in FA, you’ve now got me salivating at the prospect of 3 TE sets next season.
