I really hope so. I think it all hinges on what he does with the QB position.Let's see if old man BB has another reboot in him.

I too have hope, we don't end up with a Foles or Flacco, lol. JkWell, we don't have a choice but to replace Tom. Hopefully we find an above average guy for Bill to coach up. He is my favorite football coach, so we will see how it goes. Nick Foles won a SB, Flacco, and others, I don't particularly think they have amazing leadership skills or are elite QB's, so I have hope.
If you think my post is "heavily weighing things toward the coach", then I need to improve my writing skills. That was not my intention. I was advocating that the relationship was mutually beneficial. At times it may have seemed more of a BB team or Brady team, but I think it was always in balance until near the end.
McGinest, Bruschi, Law and Johnson were the veteran leadership in '01 who set the standard. To me, Brady was the Leader that brought the inspiration. He set the example for the winning culture. That's been lost, so I would say the Patriots "had" it. They need to find that "Leader" for other players to rally around.
I was just commenting from a mitigating risk standpoint . I love me some H-Tower...but if he gets hurt, I want some competition for Bentley.Im curious, how can you not count on Hightower making us better but count on a lesser player coming in and making us better. Perhaps I misunderstood your comment.
Won't shock me if Bill spends money on some Front 7 help and then drafts a front 7 player if he can't get a QB with the 15th pick. Need to keep Gilmore and take advantage of the best secondary Bill's had since the early years. Build the defense to at least give the team a chance.
Yeah I can agree that those vets where the leaders early on, especially in 2001, but the trust shifted to Brady fairly quickly after their Super Bowl win.McGinest, Bruschi, Law and Johnson were the veteran leadership in '01 who set the standard.
Belichick hit the jackpot that year acquiring veteran additions Izzo, Cox, Phifer and Vrabel.
Brady always set the standard in personal commitment and clutch play, but he only became the veteran leader as the years went by. He mostly let his play do the talking, but after 2009 he was the older guy, getting more vocal and assertive.
My head may explode if they take another DB with their top pick as Bill hasn't had the best luck and it's ignoring other pressing needs. While those guys may be top flight CB's, it's just too much of a risk as you're addressing an already strong group while others continue to get weaker. Then again, it all depends on what Bill does in FA.I am OK with keeping Gilmore, but don't want to back up the Brinks truck for a 31 year old pro bowl CB who has maybe 2 more seasons of top 5 CB play left in him.
Besides I think Surtain and Farley might fall to #15 if they get by the Cowboys....and we could almost certainly get a 2nd for Gilly Lock.....
I'm pretty sure that Brady became the leader on offense pretty early on. I don't doubt that he deferred to the veterans (on defense) in his first few years in terms of team leadership, but given that he was winning the preseason workout awards his first few years on the team, I expect he gained overall respect pretty quickly. I also think there are leaders on offense and leaders on defense and the two are kind of seperate.McGinest, Bruschi, Law and Johnson were the veteran leadership in '01 who set the standard.

I'm not good at predicting the future. I'm gonna hope that the greatest coach of all time will have quite a bot of influence on that and we Pats fans will hope for the best.I am not saying don't give Bill credit for the last 20 years. I am saying that Brady greatly influenced the way Bill approached the offseason. We were a free agent destination because we rolled out of bed to 12 wins each year so guys might take a little less to come here. Bill didn't usually have to pay top dollar for high end talent and he was also able to sign a lot of mid tier free agents that would be productive because Brady was able to elevate their play. Now he doesn't have a QB so guys like Chris Hogan and Brandon Lafell aren't going to cut it anymore.
Okay. I can see your point. I guess I disagree and see it differently. My comment about the inclination was your (I believe it was you) admission to being a homer, which would make you more inclined to choose the current Patriot (BB) over the former Patriot (TB): it was not intended as anything more than that. My overall point was that the so-called "balance" was in Brady's favor beginning a long time ago, even if you were weighting things in BB's favor. Again, 2006, at the absolute latest, is the tipping point.
Hes wrong anyway.Okay. I can see your point. I guess I disagree and see it differently.
90 pages of crap. 6 super wins and people complain *shakes head*Hes wrong anyway.
Kind of the point regarding your acknowledged homerism.Okay. I can see your point. I guess I disagree and see it differently.
Some of Tom's closest friends have been defensive teammates. He even mentioned this year how social distancing protocol inhibited getting to know the Bucs' guys on the other side of the ball. But I think you're right about the offense; I mean there was Light I guess but so much turnover. Troy was a quiet leader.I'm pretty sure that Brady became the leader on offense pretty early on.
