Patricia: Return of the Rocket Scientist

Patricia is a smart guy who morphed from rockets to the NFL.. I suspect he might be being groomed for an Ernie Adams type position as Adams getting long in the tooth...

Do not see him back on the sidelines..
If his waistline gets any larger he won't fit on the sidelines.

everyone remember what Swiss Cheese Patty’s defenses were like? They were so soft.. zero pressure on the QB. Made bum QBs put up all pro stat lines. Luckily we had Brady at his peak who was able to put up 40 point games in playoffs to keep us winning.

flores was a way better coordinator and is well liked by players

Absolutely, they should bring Flores back as DC, WTF Belichick???

How did we do in points allowed in Patricia's last 5 years with us? other defensive stats? were we a top defense?
These « fans » are freaking out about the return of a former nfl HC with intricate knowledge of NE’s system and preferences. I just don’t get it.

I’m not saying it’s the case : but do these posters realize that perhaps the talent level at certain D positions was greatly lacking and Patricia was one of the reasons they somehow still managed to allow league lows in points against all those years ?

Patsfans has become a place where fans care MUCH more about style and prettiness than winning. They cry for WRs - even though the greatest ones rarely translate to SB wins. They cry for sacks - even though other aspects are more important to winning. Madden has ruined people into thinking winning MUST be pretty. Give me the 2018 season championship any day over the far prettier second place finish in the 2007 season. Any day.

Can't forgive that SB defensive performance and he only showed he's nothing special at the Lions. Not overly chuffed about him returning.
Whatever became of the Butler benching as the reason why the Pats lost?

I suppose its time to move on to a new reason and blame Patricia. Even though the NE offense only converted 50% of its 3rd and 4th down conversions. Remember when Cooks tries leaping over a guy and failed to pick up a 1st down on a crucial drive? Failure on plays like that add up to losing.

It’s a good development that Patricia is returning. At this point, Bill needs all the semi-competent people around him he can get.

Bill is in uncharted waters. There’s no NFL precedent for a coach his age having the same level of success he did earlier in his career. The job is too big and the demands are too great. But, maybe, having solid experienced people around him might be enough to drag him past Shula’s win total.
I don't think getting 37 wins will be that difficult for Bill as long as coaches 5 more years. He is long in the tooth but he loves what he does, same as Brady, so I think he gets there. It may ugly but he will get that record and honestly, I can't wait.

He won 2014 and 2016 rings and would have a 2017 ring if Malcolm Butler played. He's also likely smarter than most on the staff last year. But we have to blow up the DB draft evaluation system entirely, the one McDaniels created in 2004 that overwrote Belichick's manual has been total horsesh-t.

.

Personnel decisions he made with the Lions?

I didn't realize Van Noy and Collins played this year. LBs as a group played terrible this season. Steven is an uninspiring coach. He won't be fired because of nepotism.
ROFLMAO.. Clearly you didn't pay attention. LBs were terrible because they didn't have any depth there. Bentley and Jennings aren't 3 down LBers. They are very limited in what they can do athletically. It had nothing to do with the coaching.

Yeah.. Steven is so uninspiring even though he improved the Safeties/Corners previously. The fact that you think he's got the position because of nepotism shows how little you know. SMH..

I have no issues with Matty coming back...might even be able to add something to our defense next year. For coaches on the defensive side, we obviously have Bill which is great, but after him there is alot of inexperience...Mayo, Steve B., who knows, maybe he can lure some of the defensive talent away from the Lions. jk

Not wild about this hire, but at least he won’t be a coordinator yet. Who knows? Maybe he can help Steve. At least Patricia earned that job at this level. Steve would be an intern breaking down film right now in the NFL if his last name and family lineage were any different.

How do you feel about Sean McVay ?

You didn't actually READ what he said.

The points given up relative to those scored. That means that all that matters is scoring more points than your opponent in a given game. So your response has nothing to do with what he actually said.

Your response is valid if we were talking about time of possession, but we aren't. Nor are we talking about "margin of error" for the offense or what it takes for them to get into rhythm.

"Scoring more points than your opponent" is simplistic, c'mon.

Patricia can help the D coaches giving Belichick the chance to work with the QBs. Brady knew all the answers to the test, and the reason why was Bill was his teacher basically served as his position after Duck Rehbein passed away early in his career.

Maaan. Take me back to the days of the chain movers. The Givens and Branch’s of the world. Not sexy, but ya sleep on em and they’re gonna hurt ya. As far as sacks go, I want a smothering pressure. The Vrabes, McG’s of the world. Is that too much to ask Bill??? ;D

2014 Superbowl win.
2016 Superbowl win.
2017 would have been a ring if Malcolm Butler played.

Pretty good.

Injuries are part of the game.but Edelman also blew out his knee earlier in the season and wasn’t available. Even with the mysterious Butler benching, its too bad Edelman wan’t there. Bradys finest game imo.
