A very informative behind-the-scenes discussion of what was behind maybe the greatest play in Super Bowl history. I have been pretty negative about Matt Patricia, but this interview shows him at his absolute best: smart, passionate and generous.

That whole episode is pretty great and honestly gives some good, honest insight into why Bill and Matt get along with each other so much. You can tell, Matt LOVES talking football and loves teaching it. I also like how he picks a Ravens game and echoes McDaniel's sentiment that he expressed on his episode: The Ravens were always the toughest matchup, always.

But what we really want to know is why Butler was held out in the SB against Philly?

The coach episodes seem to be the best ones.

"I'm gonna choke the **** out of him" - Brandon Browner to Malcolm just before the play lol

This is just as good. Patricia's perspective on the ATL game.

I love the bit at the end where he talks about being on the bus after the game Josh is filling him in on what the offense did and he's getting Josh up to speed on what the D did. And then Bill asks them to write this stuff down for next year's game.

I feel like it was justified. If it wasn't then we would have heard from Butler about it by now.
or, if not from him, then any number of teammates who got robbed of the Lombardi if they felt the benching was not deserved...

not only does KC have the refs/NFL in their back pocket, but they don’t have to deal with

- Manning IND/DEN teams
- the BAL teams
- the PIT teams. NE always had their number, but most of those teams were really damn good against everyone else
- the 2006-2009 SD teams, specifically the 2006 and 2007 teams. those rosters were insanely stacked with talent

all of those teams, at their best versions, would be the best or second best team in the AFC for the past few years

What happened to Patricia is a Bum who ruined Corky Mac Jones?

Right now KCs best competition is more on the level of McNairs Titans or Rivers Chargers. Chiefs face nothing like Bal, Pitt, or Manning was to us.

Not to mention our biggest test of the whole thing (we didn't know it at the time) defeating a team that would go on to win 3 or 4 Superbowls.

How many active SB rings do the teams they've defeated in the playoffs have? How many did we face? I don't think they've beat 1 and ours numbers more than 10. Obviously there still time for some of their comp to win possibly Philly this year as an example.

Love the bit at the very end where they are saying, "no, it wasn't us, it was you!"

I dunno if people caught it in this interview, but wild to think that Welker and Amendola were Patricia's idea?

It was quite shocking the 2001 Raiders lost 3 straight to end the season. That team most likely would've ended the Pats Cinderella season had their been clear skies that day in the divisional round. Also, had the Raiders been a little younger, they would've been a nuisance during the first dynasty.

Even if you took Merriman off steroids, I agree that their roster was arguably the best in the NFL between 2006-2007. The problem was Rivers<Manning/Brady.

I agree that while the Pats had Pittsburgh's number, their early teams were really good and watching in real time didn't know how it would turn out. Starting in 2007 was when you could confidently say they were no match for NE.

Colts were an absolute pain in the ass and a team I dreaded the Pats facing. Pats had the upper hand in 2003 and 2004, but the tide quickly turned in the Colts favor with the 2005's beatdown on MNF and sweeping the Pats in 2006. They had Manning, James, Harrison, Wayne and Clark on offense. On defense, they had Freeney, Mathis and Sanders. Lots of potential HOF's there.

Baltimore had their star players like Reed, the guy who killed someone, Ngata, Suggs and Rice but a lot of their rosters were filled with trash. It was bizarre how they gave the Pats so much trouble.

The Pats were facing teams with future HOF's while the Chiefs continually face teams with fringe players.

yeah I too really enjoy listening to Matt P talk about defense. still hard to fathom why Bill had him coaching offense.
oft overlooked in the Seattle SB game.
those Seattle DB's had 3 borderline HOF players plus B Browner.
Brady 14-15 in the 4th quarter
Vereen played every bit as good as J White in the Atl SB win (Vereen 11 rcpts/12 targets)
