BB Admits 2020 Is Bridge Year

No one can convince me that there isn't a part of him that wants to "outperform" Brady.
Of course. His legacy is at stake every day the Pats look like they did pre-Brady and Tampa looks like the Pats did.

Yep seems to fit the theme of the post Brady era. Especially the "I've seen worse" part. I obviously don't follow the other 31 teams drafts like I do ours but I'd imagine I would be hard pressed to find a 5-6 year stretch of drafts as bad as ours.
People will respond to you with his finds. And he has had some during that time, no doubt. But no team goes an entire draft without hitting on at least 1-2 players. Consider this...

1) We traded pick 23 to LA when we could have drafted Aiyuk.

2) We apparently had Asiasi and Keene rated higher than Trautman and Bryant... both of whom are at least doing *something* for their respective teams.

3) We drafted a ****ing KICKER in the 5th round. Tyler Johnson went two picks later. Oh, and said kicker is no longer on the team.

And that’s without even touching on our first overall pick in 2018 and who went after him. Onwenu was a find, though. Dugger looks like he could fill the Chung role in years to come. So it wasn’t a complete disaster. But still... good God.

If the Pats decide to fire Belichick, how long do they have to wait before unveiling his statue or renaming Gillette after him?

Never happen. It will be called "Kraft" stadium before it is ever called Belichick. Actually, I would say Brady stadium before Bill too.

Coach Bill and Bill the GM seem certainly seem to have mailed it in on the 2020 season. What a complete and utter farce. Other teams have to face the same situation bc of the virus from the orient (sans all the Pats opt outs - but seriously, the opt outs aren't making the offense such vs everyone but the NYJ). How on God's green earth can anyone in here STILL defense Bill the GM's drafts? Seriously! The man has left the cupboard bare with tight end and wide receiver busts, running backs drafted 2 rounds too high, and reaches in the secondary every season. Oh, that's right, they drafted a couple of offensive linemen who might be decent - pants tent time - doesn't vindicate 5 years of the worst drafts in the NFL...Bill's Cleveland drafts ****ing sucked for the most part, and now we're seeing the results of schitty drafts without Sad Tom to pick up the slack. Do people on this board realize Bill the GM drafted a ****ING FULLBACK in the first round in Cleveland?
Bill the CLeveland GM drafted 5 years worth of players in CLeveland - those players tallied a total of 1 all pro and 2 pro bowls (all Eric Turner)...

I know some people will freak out at me for saying this but I am starting to wonder if the personnel aspect of the game is passing Bill by. Jermaine Cunningham instead of Carlos Dunlap used to be the outlier. Every once in a while Bill would really just whiff and take the wrong guy but his record overall was still very good. Now it seems to be the other way around with Sony over Chubb, Harry over every other receiver in the draft, Dominique Easley over DeMarcus Lawrence etc. I know he seems to have some level of distain for the college game but at some point you have to adapt. I have said it numerous times on here, it is now basketball on grass. You need athletes. You need receivers who can win one on one. You need running backs who can run and catch or at least be explosive. You need TE's who can catch the ball and Bill seems to be obsessed with finding one who can both block and catch but thats not really what the position is anymore. Gronk and Kittle are unicorns at this point. On the flip side you need guys on defense who can keep up with the athletes on the other side of them and Bill seems to be in love with these big thumper LB's. We need a rangy LB who can run. Not a guy who is two Big Macs shy of defensive end.

Only in boston , the media and fans are in a rush to get rid of their coaches and players especially who have performed. i wont be surprised if the media starts asking bill if he coaching for his job soon . its just really sad that this is being even entertained but i certainly see it happening in boston. its classic.

You are saying bruce arians and brady wouldve done the same thing in 20 yrs if they were together like bill and brady did ?

I can't wait till Bill is run out of town. Then when the team's fortunes plummet to what they were in the Rod Rust days (and it will happen) I'll be laughing again and again all season long at the Patsies and the fans and media who wanted it to happen. Can't say it wouldn't be deserved if they make a decision like that.

The Early Bird will have to bring in someone from outside the building eventually...Unless you believe that Little Nicky/Skippy McD/Thanksdad Stevie is the Future in Foxborough...If that's indeed what we have to "look forward" to, then Lord help us all...

If BB can't muster up more wins, Curran's questions are only the beginning.

I can't help but feel like Bill has a foot out the door...just things he is saying that he never has before. If that is the case I don't know that I'll ever get over the fact that we could have had the GOAT finish his career in NE, but Bill ran him off (yes, I know it's complicated but still...) for what? A dogshyte year watching the worst Patriots football we have seen since 2000? NOw, if he stays and the team is a contender agin in 2 years, I'd feel differently but something def feels off.

How about giving him a bit more than a yr and a normal yr of non covid nonsense. ?

Patriots fans have grown soft, entitled.... no longer built to withstand a reload.

The media are feeding this mania and taking delight in the wailing and moaning.

A few fans have had to endure half a season of a rebuild, and already want to fire the one guy who can turn it all around. Clueless...

In BB We Trust.

So you want the team to suck post BB just so you can congratulate yourself in being correct and rub it in the faces of those people questioning BB?

Great fan of the team you are!

Not what I said at all.

But yeah they will suck post BB. No question about it. You don’t really think this team has a snowball’s chance they’ll will be good with Bill (and Brady) gone and Josh HC do you?
