“Bill has said that numerous times – you’re going to earn what you get,”
Hoyer said. “For me, it doesn’t matter if there are 15 guys in the room. I’m always competing. When Tom was here, I was competing for the starting job, too. I probably was never going to get that, but I always competed like I was going to try to beat him out. That’s the one thing I could do to make myself better.
“You have to go in and compete like you’re going for that job, whether you’re going to get it or not. I think that’s the only way to prepare yourself in case there comes a point when you do have to play. The reality of our job is whether you’re the starting quarterback, the backup or the third-(stringer), you never know. Things can change on a week-to-week basis, and you have to be ready to go.”

“You compete every year,”
Newton said. “It doesn’t matter how much a person is paid. It doesn’t matter how much a person is experienced. It doesn’t matter how much a person knows or doesn’t know. I think we’re all competing each and every day. I’ve been competing every single day.
“At the end of the day, you’re one game away (from losing your job) as I’ve learned this past year. At the end of the day, this is about proving your worth and doing your part.”

“I’m extremely excited to compete with Cam and Hoy as we go forward in training camp and get into the season and things like that,”
Stidham said. “I’m really looking forward to the competition. I love competing in whatever it is.”
Stidham didn’t shy away from welcoming Newton, either.
“Honestly, I was excited,” Stidham said. “What a great opportunity to compete with another great player, to compete with Hoy and Cam.”
From The Athletic:
With unprecedented QB competition looming, Pats engage in a very different camp
Regardless of how the training camp battle turns out, all three QBs have exhibited the right attitude towards the competition. I'm excited to see how this plays out.
