Actually strongly recommend China Mieville's October, he's a novelist so it's actually a readable history but is both celebratory of the utopian aspects of the Russian Revolution while also explaining how the seeds of Stalinist terror were sowed. Similarly suggest Eric Hobsbawm's Age of (Revolution, Capital, Empire, Extremes) series for a history of 1789-1991. Both authors are Marxists and it informs their history but neither is heavily ideological and both are heavily critical of Actually Existing Socialism. (Hobsbawm stayed in the British Communist Party when all the Trots left but was critical of Stalin so they quickly expelled him; every Cold War commie in the UK hated him, but he was also the only right one.)

China instituted military-enforced lockdowns of major cities for six weeks. That said, their curve also increased quickly at first too. Eventuallt the curves will bend, just depends where the peak is.

At today's conference he was asked why he had not enacted the Defense act he authorized yesterday. He said it was up to the Governors to get their own supplies and equipment, that he wasn't a mail clerk.

I shyt you not. He said I'm not a mail clerk. WTF

This is the problem when you have a guy that doesn't believe in government and has zero experience trying to run things.

I worked for guys like him half my life. They have a problem they call a consultant or contractor to resolve it or fix it. You can't do that in government. You have to do it with your own forces, which requires having to work with the bureaucracy that he doesn't believe in. ***********.
